Virginie develops her career from Legal Assistant to Legal Officer at G4S Belgium

Virginie works as a Legal Officer at G4S Belgium in a role she describes as “extremely varied”. She said: “I manage the legal administration of thirteen Belgian companies and provide support to our departments in Luxembourg and France. I also handle almost all insurance and claims files for these three countries. Every morning is a surprise: my inbox determines how my day unfolds."

In addition to an inbox of stimulating work, Virginie points to the importance of great colleagues when it comes to job satisfaction.

She said: “You couldn’t ask for a better team. We’re very close-knit and always ready to help each other. This interaction and working together on complex cases makes the work even more enjoyable.”

Virginie also credits the support of her team in helping her through a tricky time outside of her work for G4S. She said: "My manager always believed in me and fought to ensure my position was valued appropriately. This helped me recover more quickly after a difficult period. I’m lucky to have a fantastic job and a fantastic team.”

Career growth and continuous learning

Virginie began working for G4S more than 17 years ago as a Legal Assistant. She had been working in the banking sector and, looking to move into a new role where she could use her law degree beyond the parameters of a traditional law firm, she applied for the position with G4S Belgium.

She has enjoyed career growth during that time and her drive to grow continues today. She explained: “I believe you have to keep improving and questioning yourself throughout your career. At G4S, I have the opportunity and the tools to realise my ambitions. When you’ve found something that suits you so well, there’s no point in looking to see if the grass is greener elsewhere.”
