From third-party support role to Operations Manager: Arno Hofbauer’s career journey

As Operations Manager for G4S Austria, Arno Hofbauer is responsible for the management of over 100 security supervisors who report directly to him, working on contracts for around 20 different customers.

His journey from Security Officer to this management position has been fairly rapid and a reflection of his dedication and hard work.

Arno’s work with G4S actually began through a partner company, where he worked on various sites to help out where support was needed. A year later he took on a full-time position with G4S as a security officer.

The security industry was not a sector Arno had considered working in before joining G4S. His previous experience was gained in the commercial sector, however his commitment to building positive relationships is well suited to the role and he has enjoyed successive promotions.

From Security Officer to Operations Manager

Arno moved from the partner company to become a full-time security officer employed directly by G4S in 2015.

Just a year later he was promoted to a joint Security Supervisor and Assistant Operations Manager role. Here he enhanced his managerial skills, supporting the Operations Manager to supervise over 300 employees across various sites, including hospitals. He also supported new recruits by training them and organised the rotas.

After six years in this dual-functioning role, Arno was made a full-time Operations Manager in November 2022.

He said: “I am thrilled about my achievements and the recognition I have received from my superiors and colleagues. It was not an easy road, but my hard work and persistence paid off in the end. I truly believe that if you give your best, others will be more willing to give back to you in return. This 'give and take' mentality has helped me to build positive relationships and achieve success in both my personal and professional life.”

He concluded: “My motto has always been 'Never give up!' and it has served me well. I encourage everyone to stay focused on their goals and bring their best effort to the table.”
