Fixed Term, Full Time, 40 hours per week (12 months to cover Maternity Leave)

At Oakhill Secure Training Centre we look after young people aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody.

Oakhill Secure Training Centre works closely with the Youth Custody Services to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.

The Senior Audit Manager will implement and oversee the Centre’s compliance framework, collating, analysing, evaluating and presenting information to the management team to ensure that the Centre is contractually compliant. The role will provide oversight and leadership for the Training and Deployment teams.

The role requires an individual with a keen eye for detail for written and statistical data, with great time management skills and the ability to keep to strict, non-negotiable deadlines. The Senior Audit Manager will collate, analyse, evaluate and present information to the management team to ensure that the Centre remains contractually compliant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct line management of the Quality Assurance Manager, Training Officer & Deployment Manager.
  • Oversee the management and delivery of the compliance framework.
  • Present analysis of data to identify patterns and trends of behaviour, occurrence and identify areas of risk in line with contractual requirements.
  • Oversee the quality assurance on all aspects of the self-audit and compliance process.
  • Ensure that all submissions are made to relevant stakeholders and contain accurate information
  • Support staff in their understanding of the contract and the execution of their duties in compliance with the requirements of that contract, including delivery of ITC and refresher training,
  • Short and long term planning and oversight of ITC delivery and liaison with external training providers.
  • Provide oversight of and chair probation review meetings for members of the ITC.
  • Monitor the required performance returns to ensure accuracy on a monthly basis and ensure required information is submitted to the nominated Senior Managers within the required time constraints.
  • Provide analysis of management information to identify patterns and trends and thereby support a culture of continual improvement.
  • Deliver data and reports for trading reviews and effective practice meetings to maximise continuous improvement.
  • Close liaison with internal and external stakeholders including the Youth Custody Service and senior G4S management.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting in relation to Deployment & Training, including KPIs and minimum staffing levels.
  • Weekly completion and analysis and forecasting of the workforce pipeline in collaboration with the HR team.
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.


The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills

  • Keen eye for detail & previous auditing experience.
  • Experience of work planning, monitoring and reviewing of performance.
  • Experience of collating data and analysis of data.
  • Excellent communication skills for staff at all levels.
  • Line management experience. 
  • Ability to monitor risk concerns & forward plan.
  • Confident use of Google Sheets & Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • **Willing and able to carry out Duty Director responsibilities on a rostered basis (If the post holder holds a custody officer badge and undertakes the role as operational)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in a custodial environment
  • Experience of project management
