At Oakhill Secure Training Centre we look after young people aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody.
Oakhill Secure Training Centre works closely with the Youth Custody Services to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.
We are looking for a Conflict Resolution Manager with previous secure residential experience within a child care setting, with a strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding you will ensure that a stable and secure environment is provided for all young people that promotes anti offending behaviour in line with legislation, contractual and company requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver CR in a group and individual basis, arranging the session and resources where required
- Publicises and explains CR to children, staff and stakeholders
- Provides consultancy on CR in relevant meetings
- Approaches potential participants, explains CR, engages and motivates and ensures informed consent
- Prepares for sessions including understanding the CR Model and considering the best way to deliver it given the range of needs and difficulties presented by participants
- Provides regular updates on progress to the Resettlement Team and CR team
- Prepares the room for delivery and makes sure that materials for each session are available
- Delivers CR in accordance with the CR Model and Restorative Justice Principles
- Produce up to date notes on each participant at the end of each session
- Completes evaluation forms with each participant and shares feedback with the CR team to enhance the CR service
- Works with the CR Treatment Manager when complex cases are referred to the service
- Attends all relevant CR training and engages in continuous professional development
- Analyses data which is relevant to CR, take remedial action where required and completes all related administration and paperwork.
- As directed by the Treatment Manager and Line Manager comply with audit requirements
- Undertakes required supervision with the Treatment Manager to ensure they maintain the quality standards required for this work and to support professional development
- Demonstrate to young people, through pro-social modelling, the value of Education and Care, and the ability to develop skills and change their behaviour, encouraging them not to re-offend when released.
- From trusting, respectful, boundaries, professional relationships with young people, in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and guidance. Maintain a pastoral role, delivering interventions and support to manage vulnerabilities and complex needs
- Complete Bullying investigations and deliver the outcomes to young people
- Support the Safeguarding agenda with bullying
- Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture to achieve and maintain recognition as a British Safety Council 5 Star business unit.
- Plan and manage internal and external activity opportunities for young people as and when required
- Support the senior management team in the implementation of development strategies promoting a positive approach to ensure the change process is embraced.
- All staff employed by G4S has the responsibility for their own Health & Safety and to their colleagues in order to assist G4S in its obligation to achieve British Safety Council Requirements at all times
- Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.

The Ideal Candidate:
Essential Skills
- Previous secure residential experience within child-care
- Completion or willingness to complete level 3 award in leadership and management
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding
Desirable Skills
- Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives
- Experience of implementing individual planning and support
