We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety, Energy and Environmental Advisor to join our friendly team based in Cheltenham. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8.00am – 5.00pm

 

As Health & Safety, Energy and Environmental Advisor you will support the delivery of best practice Health & Safety management systems and to provide advice, training and support to G4S management and staff .To lead with energy and environmental monitoring, reporting and initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • To actively promote the importance and value of effective communication throughout G4S of Health & Safety and other risk management practices such as Business Continuity, achieving compliance and continuous improvement
  • To advise managers and staff of their responsibilities under current health and safety legislation and to provide advice on good practices
  • To maintain and implement the Company Health and Safety policy and procedures
  • To review accident and incident reports, assist in investigations and liaise with the enforcement authority as required and maintaining the appropriate records
  • To disseminate information and literature for the Contract on all health, safety and welfare matters as instructed
  • To work with the FCO contract Health, Safety & Compliance Manager in developing, conducting and organising training sessions on all aspects of occupational health and safety
  • To undertake safety audits and inspections, present reports and make recommendations as necessary
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships and, where necessary, joint working procedures with Client and G4S sub-contractors and to provide reports as required
  • To undertake any other H&S tasks at the request of the FCO contract Health, Safety & Compliance Manager
  • To provide dedicated H&S support to sites as required or requested to do so
  • To produce monthly reports on Health, Safety, Energy and Environmental performance, including      trend analysis.
  • To arrange, chair, and minute Health & Safety committee meetings, including the preparation and presentation of supporting information. 
  • To collect, analyse and report on energy and utility usage including Gas, Water, Electricity and Fuel Oil
  • To conduct energy and sustainability analyses and advise of potential energy saving and sustainability measures, including those which can be realized through project or lifecycle work
  • Produce professional reports relating to energy and sustainability initiatives, detailing a cost vs benefit analysis, energy efficiency savings, cost savings, carbon reduction etc
  • To control and co-ordinate the contract Environmental Management System and ISO 14001 certification.
  • To act as the incident manager for environmental incidents, including leading with any remedial or follow up activities
  • To complete the annual emissions submission and reports as required by the UK-ETS scheme.


The Ideal Candidate:

Essential

  • National General Certificate or equivalent
  • NEBOSH Short Courses
  • Valid CPD Programme
  • Must be PC literate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyse, interpret and report on data

 

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent NVQ4/5 – Degree Level
  • Graduate Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
  • Significant experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience of preparing and running training sessions
  • Energy management experience
  • Environmental management experience
  • Energy management qualifications, such as the Energy Institute Level 1 or Level 2
