After opening in 2022 it is a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future and has become an integral part of the local community.

 

 G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.

 

We are now looking for an experienced Physical Security Manager, with Prison or Custodial experience, to join the operational Team at HMP Five Wells.  To succeed in this role, you will be a dynamic and engaging individual, who shares our ethics and values. You must deliver an exceptional service and can be flexible in working in diverse functions within the prison.  You will also need to have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate and empower officers to deliver outstanding results.

 

The successful candidate will provide professional advice, guidance and support to the operational and line management in the physical security of the establishment to ensure that effective security is maintained.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to the Head of Security regarding all aspects of physical security to ensure the needs of the establishment and associated standards are met.
  • Develop and oversee the management of the physical security policy, including perimeter security and systems, Control Room, Gates, Keys, tools and radio security so the effectiveness of the prison’s security is maintained.
  • Prepare and present the monthly Tactical Assessment Presentation for the Security Committee Meeting.
  • Work collaboratively with the Training manager to ensure that all staff (including partner organisations) receive the relevant level of training to maintain high levels of security.
  • Coach and support Security E2 managers and PCOs to maximise their performance and ensure values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, audit and contractual requirements are met, including completion of all EDR’s within your remit .
  • Analyse, share and evaluate relevant information in order to identify trends so that appropriate action can be taken.
  • Line management responsibilities to include all aspects of performance management, absence management, development and support through monthly bi-lat meetings
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure contractual compliance and that all departments are working in a therapeutic and resettlement focused manner.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive Health & Safety culture to support the recognition as a British Safety Council 5 Star business unit.
  • Ensure the maintenance of security within the prison environment by compliance with security instructions.
  • Perform the role of Duty Director as and when required, in accordance with security instructions and relevant standards, to ensure that the operation runs effectively, to include monitoring effective ACCT and Violence Reduction systems to minimise suicides, self-harm and bullying within the prison.
  • Adjudicate residents in line with prison service standards to ensure hearings are conducted fairly, justly and impartially.
