Fire Door Technician

Salary: £37,890.02

Working Hours: Permanent, Full time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7am - 4pm

Location: Cheltenham

Excellent benefits package including 2.5% Golden Hello payment on commencement of employment and a £2,000 annual retention bonus (pro-rata for part time employees), subject to achieving and maintaining clearance requirements.

About the Role:

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Fire Door Technician to join our Facilities Management team. In this role, you will deliver both planned and reactive maintenance works, specialising in fire doors and fire safety systems across site.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a carpentry background who is looking to develop their expertise in fire door compliance and safety. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe environment, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards and in line with current regulations.

 

Responsibilities:

● Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on fire doors in line with training and competency
● Support the wider Hard FM team with general maintenance tasks across site
● Assist with fire safety systems including dampers, extinguishers, passive fire stopping and smoke systems
● Respond to faults, defects and client requests efficiently
● Identify root causes of issues and support preventative solutions
● Maintain accurate records of all works using handheld/PDA systems
● Ensure all planned maintenance is completed within required timeframes
● Identify materials required and raise requests promptly
● Contribute to continuous improvement and operational efficiency
● Promote a safe, clean and compliant working environment at all times


Essential:

● NVQ Level 2 (minimum) in Carpentry or equivalent qualification (e.g. FPA)
● Proven experience in carpentry or maintenance roles
● Experience working within a facilities management, commercial or industrial environment
● Good communication and organisational skills
● IT literate, including use of handheld devices and Microsoft Office
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Proactive and reliable approach with strong attention to detail
