Salary: £37,000 to £38,200 per annum 

Working Hours: Permanent, Full time, 40 hours a week

Location: Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, OX3 7LD

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join our friendly team to ensure site engineer services are to a high standard within our Health contract based at Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. This is a full time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday working various shifts between 7am and 7pm.

Responsibilities

• To operate planned maintenance procedures for assets etc, effectively and safely within their range of qualifications, training and experience.

• To assist in the training and development of other maintenance/technical staff involved in site maintenance activities.

• Maintenance inspection and repairs to various types of heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical and security etc. equipment and services on site. 

• Diagnosing faults on all M & E support systems and rectifying where within levels of competence.

• Have an understanding of HTM requirements

• Must be aware of current health and safety legislation. 

• Working with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and non-skilled maintenance staff to develop cross-skilling and cover all levels and aspects of maintenance activities on a teamwork basis.

• Assisting in development of maintenance routines and procedures and preparing and maintaining relevant technical records.  

• Able to undertake some work of other trades as required.

• To identify areas for improvement in response to customer’s requirements and needs 

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential

• Recognised mechanical engineering or electrical trade apprenticeship

• Relevant post apprenticeship experience of building and facilities maintenance.

• C&G 2380 / 236 level 2 – BS7671 Electrical Installation (for electrical technicians)

• Ability to participate in the on-call rota as required

• Good communication skills

• IT literate

• Customer focused approach

• Able to work on own initiative
