After opening in 2022 it is a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future and has become an integral part of the local community.

 

G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.

We are looking for a full time Escort and Stores Operative to Escort and Control the contractor/visitor movements across the prison estate.  You will work within the administration of the Facilities Management services to meet operational and business requirements.   

You will also work closely with prisoners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate within G4S CaRS procedures to escort contractors/visitors movements across the prison estate that is the responsibility of G4S CaRS.
  • Deal effectively and safely with contractor / visitor movements to maintain health & safety requirements
  • Assisting in the development of contractor control procedure routines, processes, risk assessments, and records. 
  • Working with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance staff if required in aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis.
  • Security awareness within a prison environment in respect to key locking and tool control when escorting maintenance contractors within the prison estate.
  • Carry out routine inspections of the contractor works to make sure that all safety guidance and practises are followed to maintain an effective and efficient safe environment. 
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes the reporting of accidents and near misses in a timely manner and the application of safe systems of work for the role.


The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills:

  • Experienced within a maintenance establishment.
  • Following policy and procedures.
  • Experience within a health & Safety environment to understand and control contractors within the estate.

Desirable Skills:

  • BSC level 1 Health & Safety.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Experience of building and facilities maintenance
