About Us

G4S Patient Transport Services (PTS) is one of the UK's largest Non-Emergency Patient Transport providers, carrying out over 5000,000 journeys on behalf of the NHS every year. With 12 operational bases across the UK and a dedicated call centre, we employ over 720 members of staff to deliver safe, caring, high-quality patient transport.

About the Role

As a key member of the team, the Logistics Coordinator will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of day-to-day operations within the Patient Transport Service by coordinating the distribution of patient journeys with care and respect.

You will work as part of a team alongside Planners, Help Desk Agents, Logistics Specialists and other Site Controllers.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Resource & Route Management: Assess patient mobility, special needs, and staff availability to allocate resources, plan efficient daily routes, and handle routine transport in a timely manner.

  • Team Coordination & Support: Coordinate Ambulance Care Assistants and Emergency Medical Technicians, provide ongoing guidance, and assist with shift rosters and holiday/sickness administration.

  • Service Delivery & Quality: Ensure contracted services meet required standards and KPIs, maintain high resource utilization while managing costs, and act as the primary point of contact for routine matters.

  • Communication & Professionalism: Treat all callers respectfully and courteously, liaise with customers and management to identify issues, and promote team morale and customer focus.

  • Compliance & Administration: Maintain accurate records, analyze data to recommend best practices, ensure vehicles are roadworthy, and adhere strictly to safety procedures and policies.

About You

You will hold a full, current UK driving licence and have experience working in a fast-paced, multi-delivery environment, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

You will be customer-focused, with a caring and empathetic approach to patients, demonstrating respect, a friendly manner and the ability to remain calm and professional in all situations.

Strong communication, problem-solving, time management and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google, are essential, alongside the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and use your initiative to achieve results.

You will be assertive, proactive and capable of leading a team independently, with a flexible approach to working hours and a practical, common-sense approach to decision-making.

You must also be willing to undertake all required training, including manual handling, risk assessment, customer service, client induction, advanced driving and first aid.
