Job Introduction:

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The employee will report directly to the Manager: Skills Development and Business Solutions.

FUNCTION: Responsible for the provision of vocational training programmes to inmates

Role Responsibility:

  • Ensure compliance with the relevant sections of the Operational Contract requirements on a daily basis
  •  Implement and oversee relevant policies and procedures related to inmate training and development, health and safety and security
  • Requisition and control of study and training material/guides
  • Promote vocational training outcomes by producing Vocational items for sale to Staff and the Public at large e.g.  Candles, Woodwork products, Leather products,Computer Training
  • Conduct training interviews and ensure integration between training and ABET to assess suitability for allocation to training programmes C
  • Provide classroom and individual tuition as well as workshop instruction
  • Provide lectures for Further Education and Training to Inmates (NQF Level 2)
  • Co-ordinate examinations, tests and assessments
  •  Assess and evaluate individual progress and programmes continuously
  • Administrative tasks: Registration of students, compilation of study records, maintenance of attendance register, cancellation of courses, registration of students in programmes/courses, handling correspondence regarding distance learning.
  • Contribute to overall Sentence plan of inmate regarding development.
  • Monitors development spend within approved and allocated budget
  •  Responsible for security and supervision of inmates including searching, roll checks, maintain discipline, etc.
  • Present other programmes to Inmates and Employees as and when required
  • Participate in Company initiatives such as Community outreach and Skills Development Programmes e.g. Presidents Awards

The Ideal Candidate:

Education

  • Grade 12
  • Formal Computer Qualification
  • Formal Carpentry Qualification
  • Fluency in English
  • Proven experience in Adult Learning at a recognized Adult Learning Centre or Technical School in related field of expertise.
  • Preference for Trained Assessors/Moderators
