As a Shift Lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shift to ensure contract compliance and maximum value to the client. You will be required to regularly inspect the post, supervise and train staff, and conduct performance evaluations as needed. You will act as the senior contractor security officer on duty in the absence of the security operations site supervisor. Other duties include, but are not limited to, alarm monitoring, report writing and evaluating, planning, organizing, directing and controlling the team during normal and emergency operations.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Assume responsibility of the shift and personnel by providing supervision and work direction for all Operators
  • Conduct shift briefing
  • Direct and motivate operators and train, mentor, discipline and motivate them to work for collective responsibility and accountability
  • Oversee the verification of security related alarms, video management and access control systems and provide situation updates to client management as needed
  • Provide information for investigative purposes by making use of data and information available in sensitive security databases
  • Make decisions and exercise action during high tension and stressful situations
  • Ensure operators are providing timely communications to support the protection of people, assets/intellectual property, and infrastructure of client related interests/entities
  • Conduct post and uniform inspections at the beginning of each shift
  • Conduct equipment health check testing prior to the start of each shift to ensure operational readiness and report all issues or concerns to the client 
  • Review paperwork and reports generated during shift for accuracy and completeness
  • Provide the site supervisor and client with an end of shift report at the end of each shift?
  • Observe, evaluate, and assess the job performance of Operators and report the areas of opportunity to the Site Supervisor
  • Provide counseling and discipline of identified deficiencies in Operator performance with the assistance of the Site Supervisor
  • Utilize Microsoft Office programs to generate reports and access security related information
  • As needed, perform the duties of an operator
  • Oversee that proper implementation of various databases are correctly completed 
  • Ability to multi-task; including answering calls, computer/typing and documenting accordingly 
  • Collaborate with other members of the Corporate Security team and provide effective communications
  • Additional duties as operationally required 

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass any State, Government or regulatory required training or qualifications for licensing

  • Must be able to pass any State, Government or regulatory required training or qualifications for licensing

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules and shifts
  • Must be able to operate a radio, telephone or other communication equipment
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Must possess problem solving, leadership and negotiation skills
  • Must be able to effect changes required for improvements
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Supervising, communicating, reporting, observing, questioning, documenting

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, lifting, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
