carrying out over 50,000 journeys on behalf of the NHS every year. With 12 operational bases across the
UK and a dedicated call centre, we employ over 720 members of staff to deliver safe, caring, high-quality
patient transport.

 


About the Role
As an experienced Planning and Scheduling Manager, you will be responsible for delivering staff forecast
plans across the G4S Patient Transport Services contract, enabling teams to maximise resources to meet
service and operational requirements. This will be achieved through expertise and experience in utilisation,
development and use of Workforce Management systems.

 


Some of the key responsibilities for this role are;

 

  • Overall responsibility and implementation of preparing the day-to-day detail and shifts for London and Kent’s 650+ staffing group within PTS.
  • Overall management of analysing the current workforce trends across PTS including forecasting of future staff requirements across the business.
  • Management of the vacancies across PTS and development of plans to address current gaps within the shift structure.
  • Management and support of the Workforce Planning Team including training and coaching the team of forecasting, scheduling/planning analysts.
  • Responsible for driving a service level of consistency for PTS service users and responsible for maximising workforce operational resources by driving cost-effectiveness and staff efficiencies whilst enabling a safe and consistent service.
  • Devise capacity plans both at Contract and National Level, using RACAs, Volunteers and Third Party suppliers to provide resilience in the most cost effective way
  • Overall management of the staff sickness across the PTS staffing population ensuring that sickness is reported correctly on the relevant systems and that gaps in the detail are addressed quickly and efficiently.
  • Autonomy to perform major shift reviews in collaboration with PTS Senior Leadership Team to ensure full optimum flexibility for shift patterns is in place. Liaising with all levels of staff through focus groups and engagement exercises which includes Team Leaders, Contract Managers and Trade Unions where required.
  • To lead on the effective use of overtime, minimising expenditure through flexible shift management and reviews, with the autonomy to lead provisions into shift reviews where required
  • To provide accurate and timely management information, statistical data and insightful analysis on a regular basis and produce in-depth relevant reports on both a regular and ad-hoc basis for specific areas of analysis to help drive the business forward.
  • Develop and implement workforce-planning strategies across PTS to encompass a number of different workplace contingencies or possible disruptions.
  • Lead on the regular workforce planning strategic meetings across the business.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the workforce planning plans across the business
  • Manage the overall annual leave requests across the detailed shifts across PTS.
  • Understand the relevant systems in place such as KRONOS/Success Factors and produce regular reports required across the business that will shape future planning.
  • Coordinate with both HR and the Resourcing Team to ensure workforce planning aligns with recruitment strategies.
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading byexample, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.

About you
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong communication skills and previous experience of
workforce planning at a prominent level. You must have strong analytical skills and have keen attention to
detail skills in order to interpret data and problem solve; whilst using scheduling tools to assist you.
