Job Introduction:

G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading provider of integrated security management solutions, has a vacancy for a Technician based at our operations in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal reporting to Regional Technical Manager.

 

The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role Technician plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.

Role Responsibility:

Main Purpose of Position:

To provide an expert service relating to the management of implementation, installation and maintenance of technology contracts and projects.

 

Effective administration of the technology contract to ensure sound financial performance

Co-ordinate around the profitability of contracts with a focus on maintenance, cost effectiveness and labour.

Contract Margin Management

  • Billable hours

Co-ordinate with administration on the contract cost and invoice documentation with accurate information


Effective management of staff

Effective Organization

  • Proper allocation of staff to work flow and job requirements.
  • Coordinate with Office around work requirements
  • Monitor daily tasks
  • Train and upskill subordinates

Leadership

  • Staff motivation levels
  • Evaluate staff performance
  • Ensuring that acceptable standards of behaviour at work are maintained by all subordinate employees, as required by G4S’s code of conduct and disciplinary code.


Effective management of operations

Co-coordinating the Maintenance/Project process flow and activities that has a direct/indirect impact on the outcome and success of contract/project.

Plan and coordinate daily tasks and subordinates, with close monitoring of standards and hours.

Client retention and customer service levels

  • Ensuring that all required formal customer meetings are scheduled, attended and minuted.
  • Maintenance of positive customer relationships

Quality Management/Ops Process management – adherence to quality standard

  • Conduct and oversee quality controls and inspections


Effective management of business development function

New business development

  • Identifying new business opportunities in the region’s sphere of operations, as well as in terms of growth of business with existing customers.


Health and Safety

  • Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.
  • Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety meetings and safety talks
  • Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
  • Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
  • Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace


The Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12
  • Formal Technical Training advantageous
  • Electronic Security Services /Maintenance experience
  • Extensive experience w.r.t. implementation of the following systems:
    I. CCTV
    II. Access Control
    III. Intruder Detection
    IV. Fire Detection
    V. Fire Suppression
  • Experience in Sales by compiling scope of work
  • Financial Management relative to managing profitability
  • Good conceptual interpretation and presentation of financial and operational reports to the Regional Technical Manager.
