An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Site Engineer (Fixed Term 12 Months) to provide IT Support to the HMP Rye Hill site in Rugby. This is a full-time role at 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, your main focus will be to deliver ICT operations and service excellence. You’ll establish good and effective working relationships with users and stakeholders at all levels, ensuring business and technology teams are supported and focused on delivering excellent customer service.

The main responsibilities of the Service Engineer are:
- Support and maintain hardware, including local networks, software and fault logs, interfacing with Server Engineers in respect of the WAN and Server infrastructure.
- Work with the IT Service Desk, acting as 1st, 2nd or 3rd line support, diagnose breakdowns /faults and take corrective and remedial action.
- Sustain ICT Services, owning issues to resolution and ensuring a clear hand-off to another issue owner.
- Advise, agree and implement the distribution, use and best practice of software across available hardware to optimise end user efficiency.
- Guide and coach end users to optimise desktop and software.
- Check end users compliance with IT policies, with particular reference to the security policy.
- Ensure full asset management, incident logging and updates, service request capture and other ITIL related activities for allocated sites.
- Ensure compliance of all statutory requirements relating to ICT, including software licenses.
- Assist with ad hoc project work and duties as and when required.
- Any other reasonable request by Management.
As the ideal candidate for the IT Service Engineer role, you'll already have experience in delivering IT support to a range of suppliers at all levels.
You’ll have advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office software& Google support. You will also:
- Be proficient with PC hardware repair and can troubleshoot/resolve software and operating system issues on both Windows and Apple products.
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.

The successful candidate will be required to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes. These documents may include your passport, driver’s license, utility bill (dated in the last 3 months), HMRC letter, original bank statements, an original payslip, your birth certificate, or a valid share code.
Please note that this role requires SC clearance which means you must have lived in the UK consecutively for the last 5 years. The role does not qualify for a visa under the current Government guidelines therefore to be considered for this role you must already have the right to work in the UK. Relocation costs will not be granted. You must live within reasonable commuting distance of the site.
