G4S Patient Transport Services (PTS) is one of the UK’s largest Non-Emergency Patient Transport providers, carrying out over 350,000 journeys on behalf of the NHS every year. With 12 operational bases across the UK and a dedicated call centre, we employ over 720 members of staff to deliver safe, caring, high-quality patient-centric transport.
About the Role
G4S PTS is actively seeking an experienced Clinical Patient Safety Lead (CPSL) to join our Governance Team. This pivotal role will contribute significantly to our operations across non-emergency patient transport
services (NEPTS).
As the Clinical Patient Safety Lead, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, overseeing patient safety, patient experience and supporting safeguarding.
In this role, you will provide expert advice to the Executive Committee (ExCOM) and Senior Management Team (SMT) on all matters related to clinical and legislative requirements set forth by NHS regulators, including NHS England and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
We are looking for a dynamic and transformational leader with experience in developing teamwork, policy and strategy. You should be adept at preparing and presenting Board-level papers, ensuring that G4S PTS complies with statutory, regulatory, contractual, and best practice requirements concerning quality governance, patient safety, patient risk, and corporate governance. Effective assurance monitoring and escalation processes will also be a key aspect of this role.
As an ambassador for the G4S vision and values, you will identify opportunities for clinical development and improvement, as well as enhance the utilisation of both existing and new resources.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role are;
● To provide effective leadership and direction for all PTS staff and staff in other areas of clinical responsibility and to ensure safe and sustained development in these services
● Will provide a professional-to-professional support line for any frontline operational staff for clinical decision-making regarding transport options and referral/care pathways
● To coordinate and maintain the delivery of excellent quality CQC standards
● Development and review of policies
● A unified approach to patient safety programmes should be provided to ensure the patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF) is embedded, robust, and deployed effectively
● Provide strong leadership, direction, and a continuous improvement approach as a member of the Senior Management Team.
● Maintain professional nursing/paramedic standards in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct Health Professions Council (HPC)
● Monitor and drive improvements on any clinical indicators for service (IPC)
● To lead on infection control within PTS, this is inclusive of IPC audits.
● Ensure the business meets all requirements under the Head of Governance, such as chairing the Safeguarding committee, providing training advice, policy and reporting
● Work with the business development team on the submission of new bids and support the mobilisations of any new contracts as required
● Manage the successful implementation of key central and local business and operational initiatives.
● Build and maintain positive working relationships with existing and new providers and stakeholders in a proactive manner, ensuring any issues raised are addressed in a timely fashion
● Ensure that professional/clinical advice is available to support eligibility criteria decisions
● Ensure strong levels of staff engagement, providing visible leadership and direction
● Work closely with other members of the management team to deliver the successful implementation of key initiatives.
● Provide support to other managers, as appropriate, to help deliver the CQC/clinical, commercial, and operational targets
● Responsible for developing clinical design innovations to meet the changing and aspirational requirements of the business.
The Ideal Candidate:
About you
You must hold a clinical qualification with an active registration with the United Kingdom Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Health Care Professions Council.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and excellent communication skills, with a flexible approach and a commitment to enhancing patient safety. You will draw insights from multiple sources of patient information and best practices to drive quality improvement initiatives.
