INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER
Salary: £48,000 - £52,000 per annum
Working Hours: Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

G4S Facilities Management are recruiting a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis based in Cheltenham to provide on-site technical support for server infrastructure and LAN/WAN networks.
Responsibilities

Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical problems that 1st or 2nd Line Support cannot handle.

Troubleshoot and resolve high-level networking problems, analyse and resolve system hardware defects, ensuring system reliability and performance.

Maintain and optimise the organisation & servers, networks, virtualised environments (Hyper- V, VMware ESXi), storage systems (SAN/NAS), and other infrastructure components.</p>

Maintain and manage network security, performance, monitoring, and optimisation of our systems

To log all calls on the call logging system and maintain complete documentation

Supporting IT teams with advanced technical expertise, from safeguarding to network enhancements

Working with your IT colleagues, ensure that backups of all business systems are fully managed, maintained, documented and disaster recovery process procedures are regularly reviewed and tested

Adherence to all Group Information Security policies and procedures in all aspects of your job role

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure service excellence is delivered at all times

Provide on-call services as part of a shift rotation pattern
Essential

An understanding of Firewalls, Networking technologies, and Load Balancers.

Understanding network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and security best practices.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across diverse systems,

infrastructure, and architecture, including but not limited to Microsoft AD, Group Policy, Windows Desktop & Windows Server OS (2012, 2016, 2022), DNS, DHCP, SCCM & MECM.</p>

PowerShell scripting, Linux administration & SAN storage support</p>

Virtualisation Technologies and especially in VMware/Hyper-V.

Experience in NetApp storage systems and management

Previous experience in an IT infrastructure role
