Salary £45,341.42 per annum

Permanent - Full Time (40 hours per week)

After opening in 2022 it is a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future and has become an integral part of the local community.

 

G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.</p>

 

We now have an opportunity for a Health, Safety and Fire Advisor to join our team to provide professional advice, guidance and support to all staff on matters to do with the Health and Safety of the establishment, bringing consistency and best practice and provide advice and address any Health and Safety and Fire risks.

 

You will possess Health and Safety experience, a consultative and can do attitude, along with a NEBOSH qualification or equivalent, and have passed a current recognised Fire Risk assessor course. You will work collaboratively and openly whilst offering effective solutions.

 

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Advise the senior management team on the implementation of company health and safety, and fire prevention policy, and other relevant legislation to ensure that the business unit/area is operated in a safe manner.
  • Undertake, plan and monitor inspections, risk assessments and audits ensuring they are carried out for all areas of the business unit/area, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees, those in our care and others working or present within the business establishment/area.
  • Investigate and report on all accidents, lost time incidents, RIDDOR’s and near misses including HPIs, ensuring that lessons learnt are acted upon, and that the risk of a reoccurrence are minimised.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and delivery of Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental staff training programmes, to raise staff awareness of their responsibilities in respect of Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental practice.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure best practice and effective co-ordination and co-operation on Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental issues.
  • Monitor the environment on a daily basis, ensuring that appropriate health and safety and fire procedures are appropriate and consistently applied.
  • Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment. (As required by secure establishments).
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.</li>

 


You will ideally have experience of working within a multifunctional and demanding environment.
