About the role and team
G4S Australia invites applications from qualified clinical leaders for the position of Health Services Manager at Mount Gambier Prison. This permanent, full-time onsite position offers an exceptional opportunity to oversee comprehensive clinical governance, lead a dedicated multidisciplinary healthcare team of twelve, and strategically influence operational delivery within a specialised correctional environment.
As the Health Services Manager, you'll oversee the delivery of essential healthcare services to over 670 prisoners including: initial admission health screenings, physical health support, mental health support, and addiction support programs. Your leadership will ensures that the care provided mirrors top-tier community standards and aligns with the broader regulations outlined by Department of Corrections South Australia.
This position sits as a key member of the Senior Management Team, offering opportunities to contribute to the strategic direction of healthcare services within the prison.
Key responsibilities includes:
- Clinical Governance & Compliance: Lead and manage the clinical framework, ensuring all health and wellbeing services are delivered strictly in accordance with Department of Correctional Services (DCS) specifications. This includes partnering with our clients to learn and investigate innovative ways of maintaining service compliance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain deep, collaborative networks with internal management, SA Prison Health, and crucial external SA DCS stakeholders.
- Active People Management: Mentor, lead, and empower your nursing team of registered and enrolled nurses, fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous professional growth.
- Strategic Action Plans: Drive the Health Services Action Plan forward—streamlining clinical processes, optimising medication management, and introducing proactive preventative health campaigns.
- Budgetary Management:Manage the allocated health services budget effectively to achieve the financial and operational objectives in delivering high-quality care.
What we're looking for
To execute this role successfully, candidates must possess a sophisticated balance of acute clinical experience and executive leadership capabilities. Requirements include:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated postgraduate experience within an acute clinical setting, paired with a strong background in clinical governance and staff supervision.
- A proven track record of leading professional teams through complex, challenging, or secure institutional environments
- The capacity to engage collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including forensic mental health professionals, state police, and the Department for Correctional Services (DCS)
