Overview of the role

As a professionally trained Security Officer for G4S, you could be a member of the security team responsible for securing premises, such as building sites, courts, shops, warehouses, banks and factories as well as ports and airports. You would be conducting foot or vehicle patrols, controlling access at points of entry, securing equipment and people, responding to emergency situations, monitoring CCTV and surveillance equipment and helping to identify and prevent criminal activity.

G4S is seeking a professional, reliable, and dedicated Security Officer to join our team, providing essential security coverage for Phoenix Natural Gas in Belfast. This is a crucial, part-time weekend position ensuring the continuous security and operations of the site.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment and managing site access. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting internal and external patrols to ensure the security and integrity of the premises.

  • Monitoring and operating CCTV systems to detect and respond to any unusual activity.

  • Performing computer-based administration tasks, primarily checking in and out visitors and contractors using the site management system.

  • Answering and managing incoming calls to the main Phoenix Natural Gas phone lines during periods when the building is officially closed.

  • Responding promptly and appropriately to all site alarms and security incidents.

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to Continuity: Must be willing and able to work all public holidays and bank holidays as this post operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and does not close down.

  • Flexibility: While the core role is weekends, the willingness to cover additional hours during the weekdays within the site, on an ad-hoc basis, is highly desirable.

  • SIA Licence: A valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor licence is mandatory.

  • Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills are required for visitor management and administrative tasks.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills are necessary for answering phones and interacting with visitors/contractors.
