PMO DIRECTOR (Project Management Office)

 

Salary: Competitive 

Working Hours: Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week (Mon - Fri)

Location: Home based

 

We are looking for a PMO Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the entire Lifecycle Asset Replacement and Major Variations portfolio. You will lead the PMO team in the efficient and effective delivery of this large portfolio, developing strategies that empower Project Managers to meet key business objectives. This role requires a collaborative leader with strong technical skills to problem-solve within a TFM environment. As the primary liaison, you will be responsible for reporting comprehensive programme, progress, and financial status to both the client and internal stakeholders.

 

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity that is home-based, offering flexibility. The successful candidate must be prepared for frequent national travel to cover the portfolio.

 

Core Responsibilities :

 

  • Strategic PMO Leadership & Governance: Establish project standards, drive technical/behavioral best practices, ensure compliance (CDM, H&S), and enforce strict cost approval governance.

  • Stakeholder & Client Relations: Serve as primary liaison to senior clients, managing delivery expectations, building trusting partnerships, and providing transparent reporting on progress and risks.

  • Financial & Programme Oversight: Own resource planning, budget management, and forecasting—intervening on budget variances to maximize commercial performance and profitability.

  • Business Growth: Leverage strategic client insights to identify, pursue, and secure new project growth opportunities.


Required Experience & Skills

  • Senior PMO Leadership: Proven track record as a Senior PM/Programme Manager or Head of Projects leading and mentoring teams within a PMO environment.

  • Commercial & Financial Control: Expert in budget management, cost control, tracking profitability, and using commercial strategy to maximize financial outcomes.

  • Stakeholder Management: Outstanding client-facing experience with top-tier communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills across cross-functional teams.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Practical experience with CDM Regulations and quality assurance frameworks; PFI/PPP experience highly desirable.

  • Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel across the UK & Ireland as required.
