About the role and team
We invite applications from experienced security professionals for the position of Team Leader at Long Bay Forensic Hospital. This permanent, full-time on-site position offers an exceptional opportunity to manage a dedicated team of Security Officers and Control Room Operators, oversee floor coverage, and ensure operational excellence within a specialised security environment.
As the Team Leader, you will act as a key shift supervisor, working directly on the floor to support operational activities, patient escorts, and high-risk movements. Your leadership will ensure daily operations comply with policies.
This position reports to the Operations Coordinator, providing critical operational leadership to maintain continuous service delivery and high standards across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Team Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and manage day-to-day site operations and shift team members to ensure all operational requirements are met.
- Roster & Coverage Management: Prepare and manage staff rosters in line with site demands and EBA requirements.
- Active On-Floor Support: Work on the floor alongside officers to assist with operational activities, high-risk movements, patient escorts, and shift handovers.
- Training & Quality Audits: Conduct routine inspections, audits, and regular training checks.
- System Operations & Reporting: Utilise CCTV and security monitoring systems, maintain digital records, and assist in preparing operational reports.
What we're looking for
Candidates must possess strong leadership capabilities paired with solid technical and operational security skills. Requirements include:
- 2–3 years of proven supervisory or shift lead experience in a security environment.
- Background in corrections, forensic health, airport security, or high-security sectors (Desired, not essential).
- Knowledge of CCTV systems, monitoring equipment, and strong computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting (Word/Excel).
- Experience in managing staff rosters, maintaining SOP compliance, and handling incidents calmly under pressure.
- Valid NSW 1AC Security Licence and valid Driver's Licence.
- Up to date with Category A Vaccination status as per NSW Health guidelines (Or willing to obtain).
