About Us

G4S Patient Transport Services (PTS) is one of the UK’s largest Non-Emergency Patient Transport providers, carrying out over 350,000 journeys on behalf of the NHS every year. With 12 operational bases across the UK and a dedicated call centre, we employ over 720 members of staff to deliver safe, caring, high-quality patient-centric transport.

About the Role

The Head of the Intelligent Patient Transport Hub (IPTH) provides strategic and operational leadership to the central control and intelligence functions that underpin Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS) delivery across the Kent and Medway region.

You will be responsible for ensuring data-driven decision making, live performance optimisation, capacity management, and continuous improvement through integration of technology, analytics, and human expertise.

This role is at the heart of the organisation - overseeing the planning and execution of 350,000 patient journeys per annum - ensuring the right resource is in the right place at the right time.

Key Responsibilities:

As the accountable owner for end-to-end IPTH performance, you will:

Lead Operations: Own the planning, scheduling, dispatch, communication, and service recovery for the entire patient transport ecosystem.

Drive Performance: Ensure contractual KPIs and quality standards are consistently exceeded, running structured daily huddles and weekly performance reviews to maintain operational momentum.

Innovate with Data: Convert data into actionable decisions using AI-based routing, predictive demand analytics, live dashboards, and structured variance analysis to optimise delivery.

Build Culture: Cultivate a high-performing, patient-centred, data-literate, and clinically aware culture, focusing on psychologically safe learning and visible leadership.

Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary interface with Trusts, Commissioners, clinical teams, and patient representatives, balancing competing demands while maintaining trust.

About you

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, analytical, solution-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.

You must have excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as being able to demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadlines, maintain confidentiality, have the ability to prioritise workload, maintain high levels of accuracy and challenge where necessary.

We are looking for a highly motivated senior leader, with the ability to be resilient, confident with a tenacious can-do attitude.  You must have the ability to embrace complexity, be a part of a busy and fast paced environment and be flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios.

A proven professional with professionalism and integrity, you will play an integral part of the G4S Patient Transport Services Team.

Essential Experience & Skills:</span>

Senior Leadership: Proven senior leadership experience in a live command and control or logistics hub, ideally within NEPTS, time-critical healthcare, or complex people transport.

Logistical Mastery: Strong background in logistical planning, scheduling, dispatch, telematics, and confident managing "on-the-day" operational playbooks.

Workforce Management (WFM): Demonstrable capability in WFM, including operating model design, shift/roster optimisation, and flexible resourcing.

Data Literacy: High data literacy with the ability to interpret dashboards, run structured reviews, and convert insight into clear operational change with defined ownership.
