Position: Site Security Manager (Data Centre)

Location: Clondalkin,Dublin 22 

Annual Salary: €65,000 - €70,000 Dependant on experience

Hours: 45 per week  

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

Role Overview

The Data Centre Security Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and execution of all physical security operations within a data centre campus. This role ensures the protection of critical infrastructure, data assets, employees, and contractors by implementing robust security programmes, technologies, and procedures.

Operating within a high-availability and mission-critical environment, the Security Manager will oversee security personnel, manage third-party vendors, maintain regulatory compliance, and lead risk mitigation strategies. The role also acts as the primary liaison between the data centre, internal operational teams, and external stakeholders including emergency services and law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations Management

  • Manage day-to-day physical security operations across the data centre campus.

  • Oversee access control, perimeter protection, visitor management, and CCTV monitoring systems.

  • Ensure secure access procedures for employees, contractors, and visitors entering restricted areas.

  • Supervise and direct contract security guard teams to ensure adherence to security policies and procedures.

  • Respond to and manage security incidents, alarms, and emergencies in a calm and controlled manner

Risk Management and Threat Assessment

  • Conduct ongoing security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for facilities, personnel, and assets.

  • Identify threats such as theft, sabotage, cyber-physical breaches, terrorism, workplace violence, or other risks affecting critical infrastructure.

  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies and security improvement plans.

  • Review crime trends and local threat intelligence relevant to data centre operations.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, industry, and corporate security standards.

  • Support audits and compliance with frameworks such as:

    • ISO 27001

    • SOC 1 / SOC 2

    • GDPR requirements relating to surveillance and data handling

  • Maintain accurate records, incident logs, and security reports for internal and external audits. 

Team Leadership and Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of security supervisors and officers.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development for security personnel.

  • Manage staffing levels to ensure 24/7 security coverage across the data centre site.

  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure vendor compliance with security standards. 

Security Systems and Technology Management

  • Oversee operation and maintenance of physical security systems including:

    • CCTV surveillance systems

    • Intrusion detection systems

    • Access control and badge management systems

    • Alarm monitoring platforms

  • Coordinate with IT and engineering teams to integrate security technologies with data centre infrastructure.

  • Evaluate new security technologies and implement system upgrades where required. 

Incident Response and Investigations

  • Lead investigations into security breaches, suspicious activity, or policy violations.

  • Coordinate with internal investigation teams, HR, and legal departments when required.

  • Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions.

  • Act as the primary security lead during major incidents or emergencies. 

Stakeholder and External Relations

  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, emergency services, and law enforcement agencies.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including:

    • Data Centre Operations

    • Facilities Management

    • IT Infrastructure

    • Health & Safety

  • Participate in crisis management and business continuity planning.

Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans including evacuation procedures and incident escalation protocols.

  • Conduct regular drills for fire, security breaches, or other emergency scenarios.

  • Ensure the security programme supports overall data centre resilience and uptime.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Experience

  • 5 years experience in security operations, preferably within:

    • Data centres

    • Critical infrastructure

    • Technology or cloud environments

    • High-security facilities

  • Proven experience managing large security teams and vendor contracts.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of physical security systems and access control technologies

  • Experience conducting security audits and risk assessments

  • Leadership and team management capabilities

  • Incident response and crisis management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Analytical ability to interpret security data and metrics

Minimum Requirements

  • PSA Security Guarding certified (Essential)

  • English Language: C1 Written & Oral (Essential)

  • 5 Years verifiable employment & personal activity (Essential)

  • Security Institute of Ireland membership (Highly beneficial)

  • QQI Level 6 Security Operations Certification (Highly beneficial)

Working Conditions

  • 24/7 operational environment requiring on-call availability.

  • Work within secure and restricted data centre environments.

  • Occasional travel between regional data centre sites within Ireland or Europe.
