Regional Engineering Manager - Scotland

  • Up to £47,380 (DOE)

G4S have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Regional Engineering Manager with strong customer service skills to join our team in Scotland. We are looking for someone who has previously spent time in the field, either install or service, and is familiar with the systems and products of the industry. What you will be doing

Service

  • Growing the region's contractual service income (currently over £2.5m) through liaising with new and existing customers to expand service offerings

  • Managing engineering performance to make sure we attain 95% response targets to our customer base

  • Managing PPM performance, attaining 100% completion of scheduled works in line of deadlines

  • Managing first fix performance, looking for ways to improve on an already strong performance

  • General performance management of a team of 7 engineers (5 Service; 2 Installation) to ensure all G4S Values and processes are followed

  • Overseeing small works

  • Managing reactive billing and planned works to attain a monthly income in line with P&L

  • Customer meetings and account management

Installation

  • Overall control of the Department's financial budget and manage Department P&L.

  • Ensure monthly income/margin figures are in line with budget requirements and to maximise profitability.

  • Minimise the Company’s financial exposure by the timely initiation of Customer invoices.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reports.

  • Investigate and submit project overspend reports.

  • Rectification of project overspends for future learning.

  • To verify the detailed accuracy of new Sales and that specifications are correct.

  •  Identify and detail where new Sales are not correct and report of cost implications at “pre-installation stage”

  • To manage the Departments installation of electronic security and fire alarm/safety systems by a team of Installation engineers and Sub Contract engineers.

  •  Ensure engineers are working in a productive and efficient manner.

  •  Ensure that projects are completed to agreed timescales.

  •  Maintain the highest standards of quality.

  • Comply with Company and NSI guidelines.

  • Ensure Installation audits are in line with Company/NSI requirements.

  • Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times in line with current requirements      

  • Ensure efficient and effective use of resources.

  • Ensure project variations are fully documented and authorised by Customers.

  • Ensure systems are installed to Company standards.

  • To liaise with the Sales, System Design and Technical Departments to ensure optimum system installation.

  • Ensure engineers project paperwork is returned in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that the Service Centre are promptly advised of the completion, or partial completion, of all systems.

  • To liaise with Customers and Contractors at a local/site level and attend to Customer enquiries.

  • Ensure satisfactory production of “O & M” Manuals are in line with customers’ expectations.

  • Ensure the accuracy of “As-Fitted” System Specifications.

  • Ensure that all aspects of the installation are fully completed prior to project closure.

  • Ensure Customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain the highest standards of quality.

  • To carry out periodic inspections of plant and equipment.

  • To minimise waste and the effect on the environment.

  • To ensure that the Company’s vehicle policies are observed.

  • Ensure timely submission and authorisation of engineer’s expenses.

  • Processing of supplier’s and sub-contractor’s invoices.

  • To maintain a detailed and accurate diary.

  • To respond to all communications within an appropriate time.

  • To maintain comprehensive records.

  • To ensure the responsible use of Company property.

  • To represent the Company in a professional manner.

  • To represent the Company’s best interests.

  • To be highly motivated and be able to work on your own with excellent attention to detail. 

  • To ensure Company KPI’s are measured and adhered to. 


What we are looking for

  • Operational management of a service engineering team in the F&SS systems industry

  • Knowledge of multiple access, CCTV, intruder and fire safety systems

  • Engineering qualification or experience in fire & security installation and service

  • Previous “hands on” experience of the installation and / or servicing of fire & security systems

  • Managing an effective team of engineers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Able to follow procedures

  • Willingness to travel nationally

  • Willingness to work varying hours as necessary

  • Ability to adapt to a widening product portfolio


There are also some must haves

  • 5 years checkable work history

  • Unrestricted right to work in theUK/EU

  • Must be able to pass BS7858 screening

  • Must reside in Scotland
