Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in England and Wales, providing places for up to approximately 2100 Category C male prisoners.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who can work using their own initiative or as part of a team to provide an effective and efficient administration service to the Prison.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day delivery of Residential policy, practice and procedures and associated communication strategies to ensure compliance with the relevant standards, including security instructions.
- Coach and support staff to maximise their performance and ensure values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures and contractual requirements are met.
- Produce documents and information, often of a confidential and sensitive nature, in a timely manner ensuring consistency with company and department standards of efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships and communication with internal and external departments and agencies involved in all aspects of Residential delivery to ensure the process is adhered to.
- Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture to achieve and maintain recognition as a British Safety Council 5 Star business unit.</span>
- Ensure the maintenance of security within the prison environment by compliance with security instructions.
Essential Skills:
- Ability to use Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Email and Google Calendar
- A good understanding of the fundamentals of administration
Desirable Skills:
- Supervisory experience

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced Administrator and therefore must be able to demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadlines, have a keen eye for detail, have the ability to prioritise workload and challenge where necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as working proactively and using your own initiative. It is key that you are flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios. The role requires an individual with excellent IT skills.
