About the role and team

We are seeking a proactive Administration Assistant to join our team, reporting to our Prisoner Services Coordinator (Tania). This unique role offers a blend of traditional office administration and hands-on operational support within a secure correctional environment. Based across both the administration office (buidling located by the car park) and inside the facility itself, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of essential services. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Inventory: Managing the facility canteen, including supervising prisoner workers, coordinating with suppliers, and handling stock deliveries (involving some manual lifting).
  • Prisoner Monies, Post and Queries: Managing administration and processing, and responses for "Special Buy" orders, incoming/outgoing mail and responding to electronic enquiries regarding accounts, phone numbers, and orders.
  • Financial Admin: Processing prisoner transactions, managing banking errands, and preparing financial records for transfers or releases, inlcuding some off site errands.
  • Site Support: Providing reception coverage and managing general purchasing and credit card reconciliations

As you can see the role is varied, so we're really looking for someone who is happy to get stuck in with the daily needs of the site, and work with the team to complete demands and timelines together.

What we're looking for

  • A current Australian driver's licence, to commute and for use of company vehicle for errands.
  • Physically fit to lift and carry items.
  • Willing to work in direct contact with male prisoners of our low risk facility in our canteen and special buys areas.
