Overview of the role

As a professionally trained Security Officer for G4S, you could be a member of the security team responsible for securing premises, such as building sites, courts, shops, warehouses, banks and factories as well as ports and airports. You would be conducting foot or vehicle patrols, controlling access at points of entry, securing equipment and people, responding to emergency situations, monitoring CCTV and surveillance equipment and helping to identify and prevent criminal activity.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Security Officer to join our team at the Royal Courts of Justice (RCJ) back gate. This role requires a flexible individual with a strong commitment to security and customer service, capable of managing diverse responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday: 06:00 - 21:00

  • Saturday and Sunday: 08:00 - 17:00

A flexible approach to working hours is essential, as the role involves working different shift patterns within these operational hours.

Rate of Pay

£13.36 per hour

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of security and operational tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Security Operations:

    • Key holding responsibilities.

    • Access control and management of entry/exit points.

    • Issuing visitor passes and managing visitor flow.

    • Operating and monitoring CCTV systems.

    • Conducting external and internal patrolling of the premises.

    • Opening and closing the building as per operational requirements.

    • Escorting contractors within the premises.

    • Salting icy areas during winter months to ensure safety.

  • Operational Support:

    • Court orderly duties.

    • Reception duties, including greeting and assisting visitors.

    • Managing the search area, adhering to security protocols.

    • Performing messenger duties as required.

    • Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly security checks.

    • Comprehensive incident reporting and documentation.

  • Customer Service & Client Liaison:

    • Providing excellent customer service to all visitors and staff.

    • Liaising effectively with the client and other stakeholders.

  • Ceremonial Duties:

    • Flag raising on designated days.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Security Guard (SG) license.

  • Valid CCTV license.
