Overview of the role

As a Customer Service Agent, you will be the first point of contact for our internal and external customers, delivering the highest standard of full and comprehensive customer support. Our roles are critical and varied, ensuring the smooth operation of our contracts by providing efficient, well-organised, and professional assistance.

You could be working with our customers, discussing their queries, claims, and general enquiries via telephone, email, and other communication channels; providing administrative and operational support to the business and coordinating with other G4S departments to provide a high quality customer experience.

Job Title: Flexible Customer Service Advisor - 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Home Based (Must be within commutable distance to Wath upon Dearne for initial 8 days of paid training)

Contract & Hours: Part-Time Minimum Hours Contract (20 guaranteed hours per week, with flexible shift selection and additional hours offered where available)

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

 

About the Role

Based at the G4S Customer Contact Centre in Wath upon Dearne, you will serve as the first point of contact for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). You’ll support members of the public with enquiries, providing reassurance, guidance, and outstanding customer service on every call.

This role combines the security of guaranteed weekly hours with flexibility, allowing you to select your preferred shifts from our available schedules.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Handle inbound customer calls with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Provide accurate guidance while maintaining confidentiality, safeguarding, and GDPR standards.
  • Build rapport with callers and confidently manage sensitive, complex conversations.
  • Maintain clear and precise records of all customer interactions.

 

Working Pattern & Shift Availability

  • Guaranteed Minimum Hours: You will be contracted to a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible Shift Selection: Choose your preferred working days and shift patterns from our published schedules to fit around your availability, where available.
  • Additional Hours: Extra shifts beyond your 20-hour baseline may be offered during higher- volume periods for those looking to work additional hours.
  • Initial Onboarding: Includes 8 days of fully paid in-office training at our Wath upon Dearne site before transitioning to working from home.

Ideal Candidate

  • Able to attend the required 8 days of paid in-office training at Wath upon Dearne prior to working from home.
  • Looking for a guaranteed 20-hour weekly contract with the flexibility to pick up extra hours during busy periods.
  • Has a quiet workspace at home and a reliable, high-speed internet connection.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with variable weekly rotas.
