About the role and team
Since 2008, we have supported the NSW Department of Justice Health by providing security services at the Long Bay Forensic Hospital in Malabar, NSW. This facility provides specialist health care to approximately 150 adults and adolescents, and the facility is separate from the Long Bay Prison.
We are currently searching for Full Time Security Officers to join our supportive 25-person team, reporting to our Operations Manager and supporting our client by ensuring we provide perimeter security, front-of-house security, and security escorts. We are responsible for the security management of the entry and exit of the site for patients, staff, visitors, and Contracted Service Providers. In the role you will:
- Use Security Management Systems - monitor CCTV, alarm systems, two-way radio, and our duress system.
- Screening - screen people through an X-ray machine, with a hand wand, and metal detectors, to ensure that no unauthorised items are taken into the facility.
- Control room duties - monitoring a large volume of cameras, which includes general and sally port access control.
- Sally port searching duties - check all vehicles thoroughly and register each vehicle upon entry and exit.
- Facilitating patient admissions - take photos of new arrivals and biometrically register them in our system.
- Providing security escorts in company vehicles - driving patients to the hospital when needed, with the support of nurses.
What we're looking for
- A current NSW 1A Security Licence and First Aid & CPR qualification.
- Have a NSW Class C driver's licence.
- Have a current Working with Children's Check employee version, or be willing to get this before employment.
- Ability to work a 24/7 roster.
- Able to meet all Category A vaccination requirements (or be willing to obtain)
