As our corporate portfolio expands, we are seeking a highly strategic and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance operations for our MTL entity, a pivotal business unit within the AUEM group.

This is a high-impact leadership role where you will serve as the financial anchor for a significant standalone operation. You will drive profitability, ensure rigorous compliance at scale, and partner with both MTL operational leadership and AUEM group executives to execute our strategic growth initiatives.

As the Financial Controller you will take full ownership of the business unit's financial health, performance, and risk management. You will bridge the gap between day-to-day financial operations for a large-scale entity and the consolidated corporate strategy of AUEM. Operating as the sole onshore financial leader for the entity, you will oversee all statutory and management reporting for the $130M P&L, manage an offshore/outsourced transactional finance function, and implement robust internal controls to safeguard the entity’s assets.

The key responsibilities in this role include

Financial Management & Group Reporting

  • Lead the end-to-end month, quarter, and year-end financial close processes

  • Prepare and present accurate, timely management accounts, variance analysis, and financial dashboards to the Group executive team.

  • Ensure all financial reporting for the entity is fully compliant with local statutory requirements, international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS / local GAAP), and group accounting policies.

  • Oversee cash flow management, treasury functions, and working capital optimisation for a high-volume business operation.

Commercial Strategy & FP&A

  • Partner directly with the MTL Managing Director and Group FP&A to provide financial insights that drive strategic business decisions and fuel continued top-line growth.

  • Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting cycles for the entity, ensuring alignment with overarching group targets.

  • Develop robust financial models to evaluate new business opportunities, pricing strategies, and major capital expenditures within MTL.

  • Identify areas for cost optimisation across the entity and drive initiatives to improve profit margins without compromising operational capability.

Offshore Management & Operational Leadership

  • Act as the primary onshore finance leader for MTL, operating autonomously to manage and optimise offshore/outsourced finance functions supporting high-volume transactional processes (e.g., AP, AR, General Ledger).

  • Drive performance of the offshore team, ensuring strict adherence to SLAs, quality standards, turnaround times, and process efficiency.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging finance automation and ERP system enhancements to streamline complex workflows across the outsourced operations.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with local HR, Operations, Legal, and Sales teams within MTL to align financial KPIs with overarching business goals.

Compliance, Risk & Controls

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal financial controls and standard operating procedures (SOPs) scaled to a $130M enterprise, ensuring they integrate smoothly with AUEM’s broader governance framework.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external and internal auditors regarding the MTL entity, ensuring smooth, deficiency-free audit cycles.

  • Manage tax planning, filings, and compliance for MTL in coordination with AUEM’s central tax team and external advisors.

What are we looking for in the successful candidate ?

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in modern, enterprise-grade ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel/financial modeling capabilities.
  • Business Acumen: A commercial mindset with a track record of acting as a true business partner to operational leadership, comfortable functioning as an autonomous senior contributor without relying on a large local support team.
