HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR

 

Salary: £37,500 -  £40,000 per annum

Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week (Mon - Fri)

Location: Home Based, with travel in and around London

 

We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to provide expert guidance and support to the organisation to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. This includes developing, implementing and monitoring H&S policies and procedures, supporting risk assessments and site inspections, creating and delivering H&S training. The role also includes investigating incidents and accidents, maintaining detailed records and advising on corrective actions to create a safe and healthy work environment.</p>

 

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity that is working from home, however will require travel around sites in and around London. It will be working Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

 

Core Responsibilities :

  • To assist in the creation of a positive Health & Safety culture across the business by leading by example. This includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner and following the applicable safe systems of work for the role.</p>

  • Prepare for and parking in internal and external audits as deemed necessary

  • Educate and train operational staff in the process and practice of health and safety within the area of responsibility.

  • Be an advocate for safety in the manner at which personnel should behave.

  • Log and support others to understand and log near miss and hazard reports with a view to achieve company targets.

  • Undertake trend analysis of health and safety performance statistics including near misses, hazards and accident data. Identify trends and implement initiatives in response.

  • Develop and collate information for a variety of reports both internal and external.

  • Monitor and lead on the implementation of actions arising from H&S audits</p>

  • Provide support to the teams to track and update SHE Responsibility Matrices, assisting to support the operational teams with the process of appointments to roles, such as CP, AP, RP etc.

  • Participate in H&S meetings as required or directed, including meetings with the client and external stakeholders.</p>

  • Act as a member of the core G4S FM & PS H&S team, contributing to the creation of business-wide initiatives and improvement plans</p>

  • Assist the operational teams in the management of COSHH.

  • Develop and maintain a robust fire safety environment by advising on all manner of fire safety matters including responsibilities, risk assessment, remedial actions, emergency arrangements and training

  • Oversee the DSE assessment process to ensure that employees receive DSE / home working assessments at appropriate intervals

  • Support the operational teams in the creation and management of risk assessment libraries, ensuring that the databases are maintained and executed

  • Participate within internal audits where required, supporting the H&S Manager as appropriate.</p>

  • Provide expert advice to management and staff on all health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with UK legislation.

  • Develop, review, and update health and safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.

  • Undertaking legal compliance reviews to measure compliance against all relevant health and safety legislation, such as the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

  • Support with (and where appropriate, conducting) risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement control measures to mitigate risks in the workplace.


Required Experience & Skills</b>

  • NEBOSH General Certificate

  • IT literacy

  • Great teamwork capability

  • Hold a full UK driving license

  • The passion to make a difference

 

Desirable Experience & Skills</b>

  • Understanding and experience with Google platform for business.

  • Experience in a similar role

  • Experience carrying out or involvement with audits

  • A member of IOSH

  • Experience in the FM industry

  • Experience carrying out internal audits

  • Internal audit training or qualification

  • Familiar with ISO 45001

  • Fire safety qualification or experience

  • Member of professional fire safety body, e.g IFE
