Mechanical Design Engineer: Shape the Future of Electronic Monitoring Technology

We monitor approximately 140,000 participants daily, and our innovative technology solutions are vital to ensuring community safety, reducing incarceration, and improving reintegration. Your Impact; You will be developing mechanical aspects for both new and existing products, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement. Your role is centered on being a technical authority in our product lifecycle:

  • Pioneering Product Excellence: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualise and develop robust, innovative, and commercially viable new products.

  • Design Guardian: Ensure all mechanical designs are fully type approved, meeting every aspect of functionality and performance required.

  • Innovation Champion: Drive the development of new Intellectual Property (IP) and strictly adhere to confidentiality protocols.

  • Strategic Alignment: Use your deep understanding of evolving customer requirements to guide product development and maintain our competitive edge.

  • End-to-End Ownership: Provide technical support for manufacturing and maintenance, ensuring product designs are correctly manufactured and easily maintained in the field.

Essential Technical Expertise

We are seeking an individual with a "Right first time mentality" and a combination of specific technical skills:

  • Expert Solidworks Proficiency: Proven, high-level competency in advanced feature modeling, complex assembly management, and generating production-ready 2D drawings.

  • Plastic Part Design & Manufacturing: Extensive hands-on experience in the design, tooling, and manufacturing processes specific to plastic parts, including knowledge of material properties and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

  • Core Engineering Competence: Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design engineering, including materials science, stress analysis, and proficiency with CAD/FEA software.

  • Proactive Problem Solving: The ability to drive change through your own initiative, coupled with analytical and systematic problem-solving skills (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, 8D methodology).

Required Qualifications

  • Education: BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a closely related field.

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a structured Product Design environment working on commercial product life cycles.

  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills for clear technical explanations and effective cross-functional collaboration.
