Pathway Program - Security Officers (Karratha)

The G4S Security Pathway is a funded path to become a Facility Security Officer and work at our client site in Karratha.

Our next Security Pathway course will commence on Wednesday 20th May and run until Friday 29th May 2026. You will be required to attend the full 10 day course in Karratha.

About the Pathway Process

All applications will be reviewed, and those local applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be contacted by a member of the G4S Talent Acquisition team to discuss the opportunity in more detail.

Applicants will complete an in person interview, and those successful will need to pass the G4S Compliance Process which consists of a National Police Check, Medical Check and verification of work and study rights. An offer of employment will then be provided, to commence at a future date as per the anticipated licencing time frames.

G4S will provide the training required for a Cert II in Security Operations and then support the process of ordering and obtaining your WA Security Licence. This course completion, plus licence issuing process takes on average approximately 8 weeks.

When the licence is granted, you can commence employment with G4S as a Casual Facility Security Officer, with the opportunity to take on Full Time permanent employment as a Facility Security Officer.

About the role you will train for

Facility Security Officers are skilled and trained to support our energy client in delivering energy services safely. In a varied role, their primary responsibility is to ensure the immediate safety and security of the premises and all people on the premises.

They patrol vast areas and are part of an Initial Response Team for emergency responses where they assist paramedics. They provide surveillance and deescalate abnormal incidents and liaise with Police, perform drug and alcohol tests, assist all staff, visitors and contractors onsite, and undertake maritime duties.

Once you're qualified:

• Shift length:12-hour shifts
• Shift pattern: 1 week-on and then 1 week-off (including Saturdays & Sunday shifts)
• Shift times: A mix of 5 AM - 5 PM and 5 PM - 5 AM.
• Hourly Rate (Full Time): Weekdays: $28.86 p/h plus penalties for evenings/weekends!
• Hourly Rate (Casual): Weekdays: $36.08 p/h plus penalties for evenings/weekends!

About you

Only individuals who reside close to Karratha will be eligible to join the course. You must also:

• Hold a Western Australian Driver's License.
• Pass you Certificate II in Security Operations.
• Pass the G4S and WA Police Security Background checks.
• Be willing to commit to 12 months' employment with G4S.
