The Tower Hamlets Schools (THS) PFI Contract covers 24 schools in East London and is part of a wider PFI contract, covering Facilities Management contracts in London and the Midlands. G4S FM provides full Lifecycle replacement and mechanical and electrical system (M&E) services across these 24 schools as part of the Tower Hamlets PFI Contract.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Training Manager to join our friendly team working on the Tower Hamlets School (THS) PFI contract based at Trinity Buoy Wharf. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The primary purpose of a Training Manager is to develop and implement training programmes that enhance the skills and knowledge of employees, ultimately improving individual and contract performance. To play a crucial role in ensuring employees are equipped to meet the evolving needs of the business and contribute effectively.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Identify organisational and individual training needs through collaboration with line managers, surveys, and performance reviews.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and legal requirements to identify skills gaps and opportunities for development.
  • Design and develop training programmes aligned with identified needs, learning objectives, and budget constraints.
  • Source and select internal or external trainers with relevant expertise.
  • Prepare training materials and resources, including manuals, presentations, and e-learning modules.
  • Manage the logistics of training programmes, including scheduling, venue bookings, and participant enrolment.
  • Deliver training sessions yourself or oversee external trainers, ensuring engaging and effective delivery.
  • Adapt training delivery methods to suit different learning styles and preferences.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes through feedback mechanisms, assessments, and data analysis.
  • Implement improvements based on evaluation findings to enhance future training initiatives.
  • Develop and manage training budgets effectively, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.
  • Secure funding for training programmes from relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure all training programmes comply with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
  • Prepare reports on training activities, progress, and outcomes for stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in training and development.
  • Maintain professional relationships with trainers, stakeholders, and external providers.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation's overall learning and development strategy. 
  • Update and manage the internal training matrix and provide an overview as part of the reporting objectives of the business


The Ideal Candidate:

Essential

  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •  Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Project management and budgeting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and effective training methods.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is a plus.
