SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE AIR CONDITIONING ENGINEER

Salary: £59,069.52 per annum

Working Hours: Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week, 4 on 4 off shift pattern (6am - 6pm)

Location: Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, TA5 1UD

G4S Facilities Management is seeking a qualified Air Conditioning Engineer (Service & Maintenance) for a permanent, full-time role at Hinkley Point C in Bridgwater. Be part of a dynamic team managing complex cooling systems on a premier infrastructure project. 

We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced Service & Maintenance Air Conditioning Engineer to be responsible for the ongoing upkeep, routine inspection, fault diagnosis, and repair of cooling and ventilation systems. Their primary focus is ensuring systems run at peak energy efficiency, preventing unexpected breakdowns, and maintaining safe indoor air quality.

Core Responsibilities

• Routine Servicing: Cleaning evaporators, clearing condensate drains, replacing filters, and testing system pressures.

• Fault Diagnosis: Troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and electronic faults on commercial and residential systems.

• Reactive Repairs: Replacing faulty compressors, fan motors, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and inverter drives.

• F-Gas Compliance: Conducting leak checks, recovering refrigerants safely, and keeping legally mandated logbooks.

• System Optimization: Adjusting controls, balancing airflows, and tweaking parameters to lower energy consumption.

Equipment you will work on

• Split Systems: Single and multi-split comfort cooling units for small retail or residential spaces.

• VRF/VRV Systems: Variable Refrigerant Flow/Volume systems used in multi-story commercial offices.

• Chillers & AHUs: Large-scale central plant equipment, including water chillers and Air Handling Units.

• Heat Pumps: Air-source heat pumps service and maintenance

• You will be using our CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management) system to manage daily building operations. This software acts as our digital hub, automatically tracking assets, scheduling maintenance, and tracking work orders from start to finish,full training will be given.

Essential

• Minimum Qualifications: F-gas level 1 (NVQ level 2 air conditioning & refrigeration)

• Experience: Proven track record in commercial HVAC, building services, or facilities maintenance. 

• Full, clean driving license

Desireable

• Practical knowledge or experience with Building Management Systems (BMS / Trend / Tridium controls).
