Casual Security Officer - Parkville

About the role and team:

This role sits within a large, supportive team of 30+ Security Officers based at Parkville Youth Justice Centre, receiving support from our 2 Supervisors and our Site Manager. In this position you will provide general security services including access control, screening, and perimeter security across the site.

There is a corrections presence on site run by Corrections Victoria, so the role does not require you to undertake correctional duties or interact with young people in detention, however you may be required to enter secure areas of the facility. We are looking for professional, licenced security staff to join our team to undertake security duties for our client, such as:

• Reception Duties - Providing friendly and efficient customer service for all people entering the centre, taking phone calls, registering visitors, creating visitor passes, and keeping detailed visitor logs.
• Screening - Conducting x-ray screening, searching using metal detection equipment, and ensuring that electronics are not brought into the site and are put in a locker.
• Patrols - Roving security patrols around the perimeter of the building.
• Sallyport Management - Checking trucks thoroughly in the sallyport area upon entry, including taking everything out of the truck for inspection and confiscating any prohibited items.
• Internal escorting - including escorting contractors within the precinct, which could involve going into secure areas of the facility.

Pay rates:

Casual, inclusive of 25% Casual loading

• Weekday Shift: $37.61 an hour
• Night Shift: $44.13 an hour
• Saturday: $52.65 an hour
• Sunday: $67.69 an hour

What we're looking for:

• Victorian security licence
• Valid first aid certificate, or willingness to obtain this before commencement.
• Working with children check (employee version), or willing to obtain this before starting with us.
