1. Main Purpose of Position:
The General Manager – Skycom Division is tasked with the strategic and operational leadership of the division, serving as the
primary architect for both its technical evolution and commercial sustainability. The core purpose of this role is to integrate high-
level software development governance with aggressive business growth strategies, ensuring the division delivers scalable, secure,
and innovative technology solutions.
Beyond technical oversight, the General Manager is responsible for the financial health of the division through rigorous P&L
management, the optimization of client portfolios via strategic SLA and retention management, and the expansion of the Skycom
footprint into new territories. Ultimately, this position exists to bridge the gap between technical innovation and market
profitability, ensuring long-term value for both the organization and its global client base.
1. Strategic Leadership & Business ExpansionDesign and execute strategic plans to facilitate business expansion across borders.
● Lead infrastructure development and deployment to support regional and
international scaling.
● Drive strategic planning and implementation to align technical output with
corporate objectives.
● Manage departmental interface coordination to ensure seamless collaboration
between technical, sales, and operational teams.
2. Software Development &Technical Governance
● Oversee the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including analysis,
design, and implementation.
● Manage the Product Roadmap, ensuring R&D efforts meet future market
demands.
● Lead Risk Management initiatives: proactively plan and coordinate vulnerability
mitigation (OS upgrades, security patches, port configuration, and database
maintenance).
● Ensure Health, Safety, and Compliance management within the technical
workplace.
● Design and implement Best Practice and Operating Procedures for software
engineering and deployment.
3. Commercial & Financial Management
● Full Profit & Loss (P&L) management, including budgeting, forecasting, and
financial reporting.
● Manage costing and proposals for all custom software development and system
interfacing.
● Oversee the XTime price list management, including the strategy and execution of
annual price escalations.
● Identify and drive business development opportunities to increase divisional
revenue.
4. Account Management & Client Success
● Lead Account Management strategies focused on growth and account retention.
● Oversee SLA management, ensuring all technical and service obligations are met.
● Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with key clients to ensure strategic
alignment and satisfaction.
● Direct Price Increase (PI) negotiations to maintain margin health while preserving
client relationships.
5. Staff Management & Development
● Lead a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on staff management and professional
development.
● Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous technical
learning.
6. Health and Safety
● Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and
monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.
● Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety
meetings and safety talks
● Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
● Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
● Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety
meeting/committee/representative/management
● Attend safety education and refresher programmes
● Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
● Distribute safety information as and when required
● Wear protective clothing all the time
Minimum Qualification:
● A Diploma / Degree in IT and/or computer science, An MBA or Business-related Certification would be advantageous
● Minimum of 10 years' business experience, of which at least 5 years in a IT senior /executive position Demonstrated
extensive knowledge of information technology systems and infrastructure and their related frameworks and
methodologies
● Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure business, with sound ability to make business decisions that
contribute to the organisation’s bottom line
● Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office/Google Suite)
