A new opportunity has arisen in our Tewkesbury office for a System Design Manager.  The role will be hybrid with weekly travel into the Tewkesbury office.  The System Design Manger  will be responsible for managing  Systems Design Engineers and CAD Engineers  in the production of quotations/Technical Submittals/ Drawings/ Proposals/ Specifications for the supply, installation,commissioning and maintenance of Security Systems both for M&E and End Users throughout the UK and overseas as and where necessary. Provide oversight of any Security Systems Design programs and Design resources i.e  Subcontractors if required.


 

What you will be doing: 

 

The Design Manager carries design responsibility for the team output of Security System designs / quotations ranging from £5,000 to £5,000,000. This includes design work which they will do themselves for larger projects.

Design & output reviews to provide authorisation and approval prior to proposals being issued to sales, customers or contractors.

Representation of the Security Design team and workload during the weekly bid review calls with Sales.

Ensuring all quotations are compliant with the relevant standards & regulations currently in force at the time (e.g. NSI, CDM etc.) and all output is produced in accordance with NSI requirements.

Ensuring they have the latest knowledge of relevant standards and regulations and effectively pass this knowledge to the team in a timely manner.

Ensuring that all designs & proposals produced are accurately costed and priced to achieve the agreed company margins and any necessary management approvals & sign offs from senior management are obtained prior to issue.

Provide Security design oversight as part of the company ‘tier 3’ approval process for the use of non standard equipment.

Supporting Sales and Operations in the field when necessary during pre-sales or post-sale design meetings.

Health & Safety - Team management including vehicle inspection,Toolbox talks.


 

What we are looking for: 

 

Experience in a similar role liaising with End Users and / or M&E Contractors.

In depth knowledge and at least 5 years’ experience working with electronic security systems and associated regulatory standards in a design, sales or engineering capacity

Previous experience in a role which has involved the management of workload across multiple tasks simultaneously (e.g. project management across multiple projects)

Able to multi task and set clear priorities

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a

team through strong leadership

Good knowledge of Office applications (Google & MS)

Able to interpret Customer’s detailed specifications and drawings

Strong numerical, analytical skills and a strong financial acumen
