Salary £30,637.50 per annum

Permanent - Full Time (40 Hours per week)

Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in England and Wales, providing places for up to approximately 2100 Category C male prisoners.

 

We now have an opportunity for a Banking and ID Administrator to join our team at HMP Oakwood to provide administrative support for the pathways and assist in reducing reoffending by prisoners through the provision of opportunities from reception to release.

 

The job holder will be based within the Employment Hubs and report to the Prison Employment Lead. The responsibilities will include; helping prepare prisoners to take up Release On Temporary Licence work placements and/or prison leavers take up employment on release. This will include through delivering the Prisoner Banking Programme and ID programme; and supporting colleagues to match job vacancies with potential candidates.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing the need of prisoners who require ID and/or a basic bank account and keeping records as per approved templates.
  • Supporting prisoners with applications via the Prisoner Banking Programme and ID programme. This includes following the relevant procedures, managing enquiries, and acting as the Single Point Of Contact for applicants and programme partners.
  • Seeking out prisoners prior to release to offer the services
  • Using approved templates to maintain financial records as necessary, collect relevant management information and report on these as required.
  • Supporting Prison Employment Leads in their capacity to identify and match candidates to job opportunities. The duties/responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present and is not intended to be exhaustive. The job holder is expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary to support this area of work.
  • Lead by example in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.</li>
  • Supporting Prison Employment Lead with oversight of Resettlement Peers.
  • Excellent IT skills and the ability to create and update databases

 

 


The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced Administrator and therefore must be able to demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadlines, have a keen eye for detail, have the ability to prioritise workload and challenge where necessary.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as working proactively and using your own initiative. It is key that you are flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios. The role requires an individual with excellent IT skills.
