Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. HMP Rye Hill is a category 'B' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding approximately 664 sentenced male adults.
We now have an opportunity for a Cleaning Team Leader to to provide leadership and mentoring to direct subordinates in order ensure that cleaning standards, COSHH conformity and training is in place for staff under their control. To ensure specified areas are cleaned and are hygienic in line with contract expectations and standards. To work as part of a team and ensure that standards are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that you are familiar with the contract cleaning specification and ensure adhere to it.
- Ensure that team members are trained/qualified and adhere to COSHH, safety data sheets and respective risk assessments.
- Ensure that specific areas are cleaned at a stated time so we do not impact on the operational needs of the business.
- Report any building related faults to the FM helpdesk.
- Review, order and maintain stock levels of cleaning consumables in cleaning cupboards.
- Ensure all cleaning cupboards and areas we occupy are kept clean and consumables stored in a safe manner.
- Maintain COSHH documents in suitable locations to support the task and use and storage of chemicals.
- Check cleaning equipment is safe before use, maintain it to a high standard and ensure all losses and breakages are reported.
- Complete any work tasks within the scheduled target dates and submit to helpdesk for closure.
- Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.

The Ideal Candidate:
You must have experience in a previous cleaning role and be able to work to high standards and schedules. With an eye for detail and a flexible approach you must be reliable and conscientious together with strong supervision skills and experience of managing staff.
Qualifications in Health and Safety (IOSH/NEBOSH) and Cleaning (BICs) would be desirable but aren’t essential.
