Main Purpose of Job

Reporting to the Head of Retail, this is a critical, high-profile role acting as a hybrid of Key Account Management, Operational Compliance, and Crisis Management. The Special Services Manager serves as the linchpin for a portfolio generating £3m in annual revenue, servicing our most sensitive and prestigious clients, including Border Force, HMRC, and the Bank of England. The successful candidate will be a "solution solver" capable of thinking outside the box to provide dynamic, short-notice solutions while maintaining rigorous compliance standards.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Customer Focus

  • Manage high-stakes relationships with Senior Decision Makers at government and banking institutions.

  • Act as a counterpart with significant experience and authority to client stakeholders.

  • Provide dynamic, short-notice solutions to meet complex client needs.

Performance

  • Safeguard revenue through the analysis of management data.

  • Oversee the issuance of contracts and raise monthly invoicing.

  • Manage a portfolio generating £3m in annual revenue.

Expertise

  • Manage "A-B" logistics in a competitive market, often at short notice.

  • Enforce "Golden Rules," driving legislation and internal risk procedures.

  • Demonstrate operational agility to manage complex logistics under pressure.

Best People

  • Provide direct line management for support staff.

Integrity

  • Act as a gatekeeper for G4S and client property to prevent regulatory breaches or reputational damage.

  • Maintain rigorous compliance standards.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Work effectively as a "solution solver" within the wider team.

  • Coordinate between operational and commercial functions to deliver service excellence.




Person Specification

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Secure Logistics or High-Value Cargo management.
  • Proven track record of managing P&L or revenue streams exceeding £2m.
  • Deep knowledge of internal risk procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Experience presenting to and negotiating with government or banking officials
  • Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and solve problems.

We also have some specific security criteria that you will need to meet:

  • You must be able to pass a criminal record check as well as a personal credit and ID check.
  • You must also have a 5 year employment/unemployment/educational history that we can check and verify.
  • You will need to be prepared to undergo airport style searches when entering and leaving our premises and be comfortable working within a secure and confined environment.

You will be subject to a medical review, which may include a medical assessment with an occupational health practitioner. We’ll provide all the training and support to help you to progress as a key member of our world-class team.
