Salary £10,440.00 per annum (£25 per hour)

Permanent, Part Time, 8 hours per week

Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in England and Wales, providing places for up to approximately 2100 Category C male prisoners.

HMP Oakwood is looking to employ a Media Lead to design and deliver a series of taught lessons introducing digital film production using DVD Films and in-house equipment.

Some of the key responsibilities:

• Support students specifically within the practice of Cinematography, Scriptwriting, Producing, Documentary Film Making, Editing, Pre-Production and Sound recording
• Have a solid working knowledge of relevant kit and software, which is appropriate to Oakwood Media
• Introduce industrial practice by way of practical workshops and theoretical context within specific areas of expertise. Industry experience is highly valued and will feed into the current cohort’s knowledge base.
• Responsible for overseeing the delivery of core modules.
• Carry out informal assessments to support student’s development in key areas of production (e.g. camera, lighting, sound, editing).

Essential Skills:

• Experience in all stages of small- scale production

Desirable Skills:

• Experience of larger scale production / TV
• Knowledge of basic technical operations of small-scale production equipment
