Job Introduction:

G4S Risk Consulting is seeking Expressions of Interest for Instructors for a potential Training Design and Delivery project in Saudi Arabia. Applicants must be available from 24 April 2017.

Based in Riyadh, the primary job function is to design, develop and deliver three security curricula: a Supervisors Course; a Security Officer’s Course; and a ‘Train the Trainer’s Course. Training and mentoring modules will consist of the full range of site security job roles to include practical exercises, evaluation and assessments.

The Instructor role requires good diplomatic and conflict resolution skills and an ability to effectively transfer knowledge through an interpreter in an empathetic and patient manner. The Instructor will report to the Programme Manager and ensure that Security Training curriculua’ are delivered in accordance with G4S methodologies, upholding the highest professional standards.

Role Responsibility:

Security Training Curricula

  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager in the design and development of client endorsed training syllabi in order to meet training needs identified as a result of the client endorsed Training Needs Analysis report.
  • Deliver training curricula and mentoring to all personnel in accordance with G4S Systems Approach to Training Quality Standard.
  • As directed by the Programme Manager, ensure all training and mentoring activity is carried out in a safe environment and in line with G4S Health & Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Ensure all documentation relating to the training design and delivery is continuously maintained in version control through the G4S configuration management process. 
  • Make certain all training material is developed and produced to a high standard with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Continuously assess, evaluate and encourage trainee performance and identify additional training needs through continuous monitoring and mentoring. Emphasis on Instructor’s ability to ‘train in’ opposed to ‘fail out’ trainees.
  • The Instructor is responsible to the Programme Manager for performance according to the expectations of the agreed client acceptance criteria.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake programme schedule changes and travel at short notice.

Curricula Design

  • Design of Supervisors Course, Security Officers Course and ‘Train the Trainers’ Course.
  • Be prepared to adapt to course design change requests and respond in a professional manner utilising approved version control procedures.
  • Design Instructor/Interpreter pre-training delivery sessions.
  • Design ‘train the trainer’ interview forms and selection module.

Course Development

  • Development and preparation of all courses’ training materials as set-out in the Course Training Plans. To include:
    • Trainee Pre-requisites;
    • Instructor Course Teaching Pamphlet;
    • Operational Performance Statement;
    • Formal Training Statement;
    • Lesson Plans;
    • PowerPoint Presentations;
    • Course Student Handbook;
    • Practical Exercise Scenario Instructions;
    • Course Training Risk Assessments;
    • Trainee After Action Reports (KL1);
    • Internal Evaluation (KL2);
    • Course Formative Assessments;
    • Course Summative Assessments; and
    • External Evaluation (KL3).

Course Delivery

  • Ensure consistency of syllabi content across all courses’ delivery.
  • Enthusiastically demonstrate the utilisation of all adult learning styles to accommodate the needs of individual trainees.
  • Emphasise the training’s applicability to address trainee issues, concerns, needs, or interests.

 

Key Performance Indicators

Execution of Training and Assessments

  • Create a learning environment to facilitate the successful delivery of identified training interventions.
  • Utilise a variety of training methods to vary the presentation of information and help trainees understand the meaning of the new knowledge and skills.
  • Continually relate and adapt training to the individual trainee specific learning needs.
  • Continually provide opportunities for trainees to practice what is learned to assist retention.
  • Record and input all trainee documentation and training materials into the configuration management directory.
  • Implement and monitor the trainee grading system.
  • Input and manage formative and summative assessments.
  • Where required, plan and schedule additional learning sessions both technical and behavioural to meet trainee needs with focus on core skills.

Programme Engagement

  • Collaborate with the programme Manager to ensure client requirements are achieved in all the stated training interventions.
  • Communicate regularly with the Programme Manager through regular reporting, by email, phone and face-to-face meetings.
  • Work as part of the training team in a professional and diligent manner to carry out the work specified in the Scope of Work.
  • Enable all trainees to complete the required training modules.

Technical Understanding

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of infrastructure physical security protection procedures and systems.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of knowledge transfer through Systems Approach to Training methodology.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of adult learning styles.

The Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Defence Train the Trainer (DTTTv1 or v2) or equivalent Level 3 or higher instructional qualification, excluding Basic Instructional Techniques and Defence Instructional Techniques (BITS &DITS). Or, similar Level 3 accredited qualification.
  • Significant and relevant security and infrastructure protection experience with experience of managing security teams.
  • Proven ability to build good relationships and gain trainee trust.
  • Proven ability to manage groups and deal with challenging behaviour.
  • Possess the motivation skills to help trainees make the most of their training opportunities.
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to use Microsoft suite of desktop applications: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio software.
  • Experience in the use of a configuration management directory for training material storage and version control.
  • Fully conversant with Systems Approach to Training Quality Standard.
  • Experience in Middle East culture.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Good knowledge of security curriculum design and development.
  • Good knowledge of the Kirkpatrick model for evaluating the effectiveness of training.
  • Good knowledge of adult learning styles.
  • Strong Communication skills (written and Verbal).
  • Excellent presentation skills working through an interpreter.
  • Facilitation of personal experience with enthusiasm for the delivery of practical training methods.
  • Proven ability of applying adult learning principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including cultural tolerance and flexibility.
  • Results orientated to deliver excellent outcomes exceeding client expectations.
