Job Introduction:

In 2012, G4S and Lincolnshire Police formed a Strategic Partnership and we are now currently looking for an individual who is interested in joining us as a Senior Resource Planner.

This is a full time position for 40 hours per week, and the post is based at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters, Nettleham. The benefits of working from this location include free car parking and 24 hours use of a free gym.

The Resource Management Unit provides a service that plans and manages the shift patterns/rosters and deployment of people working for G4S and Lincolnshire Police, and as the Senior Resource Planner, your role will be to oversee the function day to day to ensure that resources are effectively and efficiently deployed. Due to the nature of security checks undertaken, applicants must have at least 3 years continuous residency in the UK at the point of application.

Role Responsibility:

  • Support the performance of G4S and its clients by ensuring resources meet identified demand in the most cost efficient way.
  • Ensure duties are published according to agreed timescales, and are maintained wherever possible up to 48 hours of the commencement of duty.
  • Ensure adequate police cover is maintained by planning and producing computerised duty rosters ensuring minimum levels are reached and in line with all performance indicators.
  • Act as an escalation point for duty planning advice and guidance, and any resourcing issues which arise.
  • Manage the relationships with our customers and third party providers, seeking and providing feedback and addressing concerns as required.
  • Participate and attend local, regional and national meetings as required.
  • Proactively identify and produce performance information on a regular basis, to assist our customers and the wider department.
  • Manage and authorise requests for absence, including leave, court and training, whilst maintaining minimum staffing levels.
  • Enter data on the Duty Management System and ensure that accurate and up-to-date records are maintained. This includes ensuring duties are accurate and pre-planned events/hours are recorded on the system, to ensure payroll is correct.
  • Resource special events with the correctly skilled staff and Police Officers in accordance with Police Regulations and staff terms and conditions, and to ensure all staff working on these events are costed to correct roles and codes.
  • Be the point of contact within the department responsible for coordinating the planning of training, to maximise the opportunity for G4S employees, Police Officers and Police Staff skills to be maintained within the required time scales, in order to remain current.   
  • Provide specialist advice to Senior Managers in to assist in ensuring value for money and effective deployment of resources, including but not limited to system usage, overtime spend, and shift patterns.
  • To resource and appropriately cost code requests for mutual aid from other Police Forces, ensuring minimum levels across Lincolnshire are maintained.
  • To liaise closely with senior management teams to ensure staffing levels are maintained across departments and locations.
  • To deputise for the RMU and Systems Manager as required.
  • To carry out other duties which may be determined to be within the general scope of the post.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Self motivated and focused on achieving high levels of performance.
  • Experience of duty planning within a Police Force or similar organisation
  • Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Experience of producing management information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organisation
  • Able to co-ordinate several activities at once, whilst working to tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to collate, analyse and evaluate data to present accurate information
  • Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills and offer solutions
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with senior members of staff
  • Ability to negotiate and diplomatically influence others including the promotion of good practice
  • Displays motivation and perseverance
  • Pro-active and confident to use own initiative.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Police Regulations.
  • Experience of organising large numbers of people and/or events.
