About the Role

We are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join our central HR team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a senior role and make a difference every day.  


This vacancy is a full time role working 40 hours per week core hours being 8.30am to 5.30pm, with a requirement to have a flexible approach in order to fulfil the demands of this role.  Primarily home based with a degree of flexibility required to be able to travel to sites as needed. 


This is a key role within the FM and Public Services senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Managing Director, and working closely with senior business leaders in the respective business units. As an integral part of the Senior HR team, you will help to develop and implement an effective and commercially focused HR and people strategy aligned with and supportive of the business strategic business plans and operational drivers in order to maximise the potential of all individuals to contribute to the overall organisation goals. 


You will create and develop a culture conducive to the achievement of the G4S business aims and strategy and to deliver bottom line value. Working in conjunction with the HR and operational teams to ensure compliance with G4S Minimum Standards, process and procedures. Advise on general, strategic and complex operational HR matters, ensuring local deployment and refocusing in response to commercial priorities.


Some of the Key Responsibilities will include:


  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with senior business leaders and their senior management teams; contribute to, influence and help to shape key strategic business issues and priorities.

  • Lead, manage and motivate the HR field team within a portfolio, including complex PFI and government contracts, ensuring a consistently high performing HR service across all business areas which fully complies with statutory and policy requirements.

  • Support the Senior HRBP (Projects), and the wider HR UK&I team in the delivery of business and corporate initiatives, working with senior leaders to implement these within the FM and PS business context.

  • Develop and implement overall HR solutions that reduce costs, increase value and achieve best practice.

  • Undertake regular reviews of technology, process, procedure and working practice, making sound recommendations for improvement and implementing these.

  • Provide input to organisation design, structure and workforce planning in line with the strategic direction of the business

  • Ensure the HR team supports the continuous development of operational managers’ people management competence and capability, professionalism and consistency of approach.

  • Coach and mentor the senior leadership to ensure people issues are at the forefront of the business planning process

  • Ensure complex/final stage ER and Speak Out whistleblowing cases are managed pragmatically and within an acceptable level of business risk, making recommendations to the business taking into account the financial impact and best practice.

  • Support the leadership team in senior talent acquisition, benchmarking and remuneration discussions, liaising with HR Shared Services and the Resourcing team as appropriate

  • Work closely with Senior HRBPs in the collation and analysis of key HR metrics to identify trends, developing and implementing action plans that drive better insights, performance and decision making across the business

  • Support any HR actions arising from corporate initiatives, including implementation of performance management with monitoring controls, values, culture and behaviours-based performance assessments, retention, reward and recognition, salary benchmarking, risk analysis and other continuous improvement activities

  • Lead a culture of employee engagement, supporting the co-ordination of regular surveys and analysis of employee feedback and data, and follow up action plans

  • Collaborate with other internal stakeholders across the business, including Legal, Group tax, payroll, Compensation and Benefits, Screening and Vetting, Resourcing, Diversity & Inclusion, L&D and Procurement to ensure relationships are maximised and expertise is harnessed

  • Work closely with the Resourcing BP to ensure process is understood and followed across the portfolio, with regular engagement to ensure recruitment activity is prioritised by operational stakeholders

  • Responsible for the co-ordination and completion of Talent Review process and implementation of succession plans which help identify and develop high potential performers and create a strong talent pipeline for critical roles within portfolio; ensure there is a management process and practice of dealing with poor performers.

  • Work closely with the Learning and Development Centre of Excellence to ensure MyLearning platform works for the business contracts, and the benefit of online learning provision is maximised

  • Work with Business Development team to understand bid activity and input where required, including bid submission and large scale TUPE

  • Ensure HR oversight and support of mobilisation and demobilisation of contracts

  • Provide HR leadership input to the Annual Safety Improvement Plan and work with the operational HR teams to maintain H&S standards and ensure these are incorporated into people practice

Preferably qualified to MCIPD or equivalent, it is key that you are flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios.  You must work well under pressure, be adaptable and able to work in a constantly evolving work environment. 

We are looking for a highly motivated and determined person, with the ability to be resilient, confident with a tenacious can do attitude and the ability to work alone and as part of a busy and fast paced senior team.

You must have strong IT skills, including experience of Google and Google Docs
