As a Security Shift Supervisor, you will be armed, uniformed members of the response force and shall be qualified for such duty.  They are responsible for the routine direction of other members of the security organization working on their shifts through the Response Team Leader (RTL)/Asst. Security Shift Supervisors. He/she is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and facility and company policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.  The SSS is responsible for implementing the Physical Security Plan, the Safeguards Contingency Plan, and other appropriate documents in the event of a security contingency.  He/she ensures that security events, violations, equipment damage and/or malfunctions are promptly and accurately reported to the Security Manager, Project Manager, and others as required.  The SSS is responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels during shift operations.  In this position, the SSS is to establish compensatory measures as required and ensure they are properly maintained until they are no longer necessary as determined per the regulations and policies. They will utilize the client’s Corrective Action Program to identify and resolve unwanted conditions.  The SSS will also ensure that daily shift operations are conducted with safety as the number one priority and he/she will ensure that a healthy Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) is modeled and maintained.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Initiates response strategies and direct response activities
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels during shift operations
  • Ensures all orders, directives, and tasks related to security operations are completed to standard in a timely manner
  • Supervises, observes, and evaluates the job performance of Security Supervisors
  • Provides training, coaching, and mentoring to Security Supervisors and Security Officers
  • Initiates regulatory reporting as required and report violations of security rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as required by policy and procedure
  • Initiates and maintain compensatory measures as required
  • Ensures timely, relevant, and accurate information is disseminated at daily shift briefings
  • Conducts inquiries and investigations into operations or personnel issues related to the security force
  • Implements disciplinary actions up to suspension and recommends serious disciplinary actions (long term suspension, termination) to Project Manager and/or designee
  • Ensures security testing requirement/commitments are completed, as required
  • Conducts performance reviews for Security Supervisors
  • Assists with hiring, promotion, and termination processes, as appropriate
  • Recommends corrective actions, changes to requirements, improvements/modifications, or program enhancements, as appropriate

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of college credits or equivalent specialized training in law enforcement, security, or a related field
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain all necessary state or federal licensing requirements
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain armed officer and responder certification and Security Shift Supervisor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements and site Training and Qualification plan

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of successful service as a Nuclear Security Officer - Armed
  • Must possess a minimum of six (6) months of successful service as an Response Team Leader/Asstistant Security Shift Supervisor
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, security or a related military field

  • Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity: Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling, some lifting.
