The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Shift Supervisor​.  The Shift Supervisor will work on special project coverage requests as needed, ensure all G4S personnel understand and fulfill their duties and responsibilities, provide a positive image for G4S, monitor team’s completion of all G4S and client training to meet deadlines, and be thoroughly familiar with premises, reporting requirements, and all monitoring equipment ensuring that all issues are reported appropriately to supervisory and/or management staff.  This position will ensure that all fire and security alarms are responded appropriately, applicable documentation and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner, respond to all emergencies and provide direction as appropriate, and enforce all regulations and security policies.  The Shift Supervisor will ensure all posts are filled, contact and coordinate with local agencies, respond to all emergencies, and act as interface for security services.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Ensure all shifts are filled 
  • Notify management staff of all incidents (staffing, disciplinary, etc.) 
  • Assist with training supplier employees on all assignments 
  • Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards 
  • Call GSOC, police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons 
  • Submit properly formatted reports (passdown, IR, DAR, attendance tracker) 
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles 
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits 
  • Train and mentor team members on post responsibilities, tasks, and processes 
  • Assume responsibility for site projects (writing post orders, inventory logs, work flows) 
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers, employees, and visitors 
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisory and/or management staff 

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing 
  • Must possess a current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Officer License issued by the State of California
  • Must possess current and valid certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of security or law enforcement experience
  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership/supervisory/management role
  • Work history must demonstrate each of the following:
    • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
    • Security experience in a technology campus environment

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Applications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:        Office; minimal to no work in extreme temperatures is expected

Major activity:       Working on PC while sitting; telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:    Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching.
