Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

As a Security Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the client facility during a specific shift. You will also ensure contract compliance by regularly inspecting the post and facility assigned, as well as supervising security staff, and conducting performance evaluations. You will act as the senior contractor security officer on duty in the absence of the security operations Site Supervisor. Other duties include, but are not limited to, safety direction, quality assurance, planning, organizing, directing and controlling the security team during normal and emergency operations.
 
In this role, you will:
  • Provide supervision to security officers
  • Coordinate and oversee staffing, scheduling, and on-site training for security officers
  • Ensure quality of service and contract compliance by regularly inspecting the post and facility assigned to
  • Promote and enforce safety measures
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post
  • Provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Conduct performance appraisals and implement and/or recommend progressive disciplinary actions
  • Assist with payroll functions and prepare and review client required reporting
  • Provide supervision to security officers

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

Here's the minimum you'll need to be a successful Shift Supervisor:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass any state required training or other qualification for licensing
  • Must possess a current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Officer License issued by the State of California

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of security-related experience

Skills Required

You also need to possess the following skills:

  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy
  • Ability to coach, mentor, motivate

Other Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible schedules
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity: Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing
