As a SOC Supervisor, you will ensure contract compliance by regularly evaluating and improving SOC operations, as well as supervising SOC staff, and conducting performance evaluations. They will utilize analytic and problem resolution skills to help resolve security and access control problems for employees, contract agents, and customers throughout the organization. Security Operations Center Supervisor will also work with the other Security Supervisors to include safety direction, quality assurance, planning, organizing, directing and controlling the security team during normal and emergency shifts. The SOC Supervisor position is designed to ensure all safety, security and facility related alarms, services and emergency situations are responded to and resolved in a timely manner. The SOC Shift Supervisor must have excellent customer service skills and be able to multi-task during various safety and security situations. Further, he/she must have the ability to communicate properly and motivate the team.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Oversees the daily operations of the SOC, ensures the SOC team is aware of the daily activities/schedule, addresses scheduling concerns/gaps, approves reports, briefs leadership on incidents – potential or realized
  • Acts as the incident leader for most business disruptions and crisis incidents, and supports leadership during the activation of escalated incidents
  • Reviews alarm system open/close reports, compiles exception reports and forward to appropriate security manager/operations manager for review
  • Conducts training and exercises as necessary for SOC operators to improve on SOC protocols, operator proficiency, and readiness response
  • Develops and delivers technology and process improvements for the SOC in order to maintain operational readiness for incident response

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable State licensing or certification requirements
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license
  • Must possess one or more of the following
    • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Communications, or related field
    • Service in the active military, military reserves or National Guard
    • Service in auxiliary police or police cadets
    • Minimum of one (1) year of verifiable and successful security experience

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Security Operations Center or call center
  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of verifiable supervisory experience
  • Work history must include demonstration of the following:
  • Ability to operate under stress, multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle several tasks concurrently and prioritize work appropriately
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and sometimes extended schedule during crisis periods
  • Basic understanding of security system technologies (alarms, video, and access control)
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving
  • Willingness to take ownership for work performed and decisions made during the course of duty
  • Ability to coach and mentor direct reports and peers
  • Ability to learn, grasp and retain a variety of system, network and security related concepts, information and procedures and be able to effectively apply this knowledge on a daily basis

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:         Primarily indoor in a Security Operations Center; minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures is expected

Major activity:        Supervising personnel, working on PC while sitting, telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching.
